Project Manager – High-Voltage Substations (AIS/GIS, 110–380 kV)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead large-scale, complex high-voltage substation projects (greenfield and brownfield) from tendering and acquisition through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring full compliance with client specifications, local regulations, standards, and company HSSE and integrity requirements.
  • Drive technical concept development, equipment and material selection, preparation of procurement specifications, and review of primary/secondary design deliverables (single-line diagrams, layouts, detailed drawings, calculations, and studies).
  • Manage scope, budget, schedule, resources, and change processes for all technical work packages while coordinating interdisciplinary internal teams and external engineering partners and suppliers.
  • Act as the primary technical interface to clients, consortium partners, and subcontractors; lead clarification meetings, resolve issues on site, and support installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Actively contribute to bid preparation, cost estimation, risk assessment, and commercial/technical claim management.
  • Implement modern methodologies (BIM, matrix organization) and enforce rigorous health, safety, and security standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Profile & Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of proven project management and leadership experience in high-voltage substation projects (110–380 kV, AIS & GIS), covering both primary and secondary engineering.
  • Strong track record in energy transmission & distribution infrastructure projects, ideally including successful tendering and contract acquisition phases.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant standards, Swiss/German/European grid codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills with a proactive, results-driven mindset and the ability to steer discussions confidently in the company's interest.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management capabilities in multicultural environments; able to build trust at all levels.
  • Fluent in German and proficient in English (spoken and written).
  • Certification in project management (IPMA, PMI, or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
  • Proficient user of MS Office (especially Excel), document management systems (e.g., PIRS), and engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Primtech, Engineering Base, or BIM/Navisworks.
