Job Summary

The Automation Engineer - Data Systems is responsible for the design, configuration, commissioning,qualification and the reliable and compliant operation of the control system(s).

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for the commissioning and qualification of the DeltaV system

interfaces to the following systems.

o Site Data Historian systems including DeltaV Embedded Enterprise Historian

o Manufacturing Execution System, MODA

o Package Units using both Modbus TCP / IP and OPC UA interfaces

  • Support the CQV project phase for the following utility and process systems which are

monitored and controlled by the DeltaV DCS.

o Black and Clean Utility generation, storage and distribution systems;

o Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning for the classified and non-classified areas

within the site manufacturing and utility areas.

o Environmental Monitoring System.

o Compounding and SIP/CIP system.

  • Review and approve Automation Requirements, Design, Test, Qualification and Validation

documentation.

  • Provide guidance and technical direction to the external System Integrator for the generation

and testing of the various DeltaV DCS system interfaces.

  • Support the integrated commissioning of the DeltaV system software, hardware and interfaces

to the various process and utility systems listed above.

Support the 3rd Party Package Unit (PU) integration into the overall Project Automation

/ OT landscape, including mapping the data interface and data exchanges between DeltaV and

the PUs.

  • Support the reliable operation of the various control and data systems by providing hands on

support to trouble shoot control system software and hardware issues.

  • Support the overall Project Team to collate supporting information to allow timely

decisions to be made that will minimize cost, timeline and quality impact on the Project.

  • Collaborate with the MES team to facilitate deployment of electronic log books eLogs, and integration with DeltaV.

Skills / Qualifications

The following system knowledge and experience is required to support the above activities:

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work

independently and as part of the Automation team.

  • 5 to 10 years process control system design and configuration experience (essential).
  • 5 years (minimum) DeltaV DCS, Aveva PI and MES systems hands on design and configuration

experience, (essential).

  • Knowledge of applicable Regulatory Requirements and Codes of Practices for automated

system, including CFR 21 Part 11, GAMP 5 2nd Edition. (desirable).

  • Experience in the Life Sciences Industries (desirable).
