My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Custom Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Zürich, Switzerland. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in custom digital, analog, or memory design, and a proven track record of team leadership. You will play a pivotal role in developing high-performance, custom-based digital compute or SRAM memory designs to power cutting-edge compute-in-memory SRAM (ComputeRAM) technology. This position offers the opportunity to work on advanced nodes down to 5 nm and below, leading a team of talented engineers to deliver production-grade outcomes.

Responsibilities:
As the Lead Custom Design Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Define specifications, PPA targets, verification depth, and quality standards for new SRAM variants and custom blocks
  • Develop and verify memory or datapath subsystems, including sense amplifiers, data drivers, multipliers, adders, register files, and timing/control FSMs
  • Address challenges such as variation, stability, noise/IR drop, device reliability, and low-power behaviour's in FinFET and FDSOI technologies
  • Define clean digital boundaries, latency/handshake contracts, and timing budgets to ensure seamless integration into mixed-signal flows
  • Plan bring-up, build characterisation benches, analyse ATE data, and publish correlation and errata with clear resolutions
  • Specify and validate redundancy/repair schemes, collaborate with DFT teams, and sign off on production test plans.
  • Co-plan floorplans, review extraction, and address EM/IR issues early in the design process.
  • Mentor designers, conduct reviews, enforce checklists, and enhance automation for regressions, reporting, and collateral generation

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering (or a related field) with 7+ years of experience in custom digital, memory, or analog design
  • Proven track record of end-to-end ownership of production-grade functional blocks, including sign-off and silicon correlation
  • In-depth knowledge of high-performance and low-power circuit design on FinFET nodes, including stability, variation, leakage, and performance optimization
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team, mentoring engineers, conducting reviews, and coordinating with layout, digital, backend, DFT, and test teams
  • Strong communication skills, structured documentation abilities, and a quality-first mindset
