What will you do in this role?

As the European Tax Director, you will lead the tax function across Europe, broadly covering Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Transfer Pricing and Value Added Tax (VAT). Reporting directly to the Global Vice President of Tax, with a dotted line to the European CFO, you'll have a pivotal voice in shaping tax policies, optimizing structures, and driving value creation across the region.

You'll take ownership of the European tax strategy, from design and implementation to ensuring compliance and operational excellence. A key part of your remit will include:

  • Overseeing all European tax matters and ensuring consistency with global tax policies.
  • Leading strategic tax optimization for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
  • Collaborating with global and regional finance teams on transformation initiatives and transfer pricing implications.
  • Supervising local tax teams and external advisors to ensure accurate compliance and reporting.
  • Providing expert guidance on US GAAP, Swiss GAAP, and SOX-related controls.
  • Supporting global reporting requirements, including BEPS, DAC6, and US tax reporting.
  • Leading due diligence and post-acquisition integration from a tax perspective.

What skills and experience are required?

To excel in this role, you'll bring a strong mix of technical expertise, leadership experience, and strategic acumen. Specifically, you will have:

  • A degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related discipline.
  • 10-15 years of experience in tax or finance, ideally in an international group environment.
  • Solid understanding of international tax and transfer pricing regulations.
  • Proven experience with US and Swiss GAAP, as well as SOX compliance.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams across multiple countries.
  • Excellent communication and influencing abilities, with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
