For one of our clients, a leading player in the commodity trade finance sector, we are looking for a
Collateral & Work-out Officer
to strengthen their Risk & Trade Finance team. This is a key role for professionals who thrive in complex situations, bring strong analytical skills, and enjoy working at the crossroads of risk, legal, and commercial activities. The position can be based in Europe or the UAE.

Your mission

In this role, you will be responsible for safeguarding the company's trade finance exposures, combining hands-on collateral supervision with the management of complex and distressed cases. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Managing the full collateral lifecycle: registration, valuation, monitoring, and release
  • Coordinating with operations, legal, and treasury to ensure accurate collateral positions
  • Handling problematic or high-risk files, including late payments, defaults, and restructuring
  • Leading negotiations with clients and external partners to optimize recoveries
  • Designing and implementing work-out strategies in collaboration with management and legal teams
  • Identifying early warning signs and contributing to credit committees with in-depth assessments
  • Supporting new transactions by reviewing collateral structures and ensuring compliance with internal risk policies
  • Acting as a central point of contact between front office, risk, and legal teams

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate who brings both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills:

  • 5–10 years' experience in commodity trade finance, credit risk, or work-out/recovery
  • Strong knowledge of collateralized lending, secured transactions, and trade finance documentation (L/C, SBLC, pledge agreements, etc.)
  • Proven experience managing distressed or high-risk counterparties
  • Solid understanding of legal and operational aspects related to recovery processes
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure with sound judgment and a proactive mindset
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset
