MAIN OBJECTIVE

This is a volunteer position. The Field Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, consolidating, and ensuring smooth implementation of program and operations' activities and adherence to logistics, human resources and administrative procedures. The Field Coordinator represents Seeds NGO to relevant stakeholders. Typically, the field coordinator reports to the organisation's chairperson and the HQ Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Field Coordinator must aim to fulfil Seeds NGO's mission to improve the living conditions and prospects of families living below the poverty line by enabling them access to financial resources and capacity building with the ultimate goal of reaching full sustainability for the supported projects.

To do this, the Field Coordinator will undertake the following activities:

PROJECTS IMPLEMENTATION


• Conduct a 5 to 8 weeks field visit to work with the partners on the implementation of the project activities and the achievement of the project outcomes;
• Attend potential training delivered by the partner staff members to evaluate their performance and provide feedback, participate in selecting training consultants, if needed and requested;
• Working closely with Partner staff who implement the project providing technical assistance and filling gaps as needed. Work with them to find solutions and methodologies to overcome project challenges;
• Facilitate reflection meetings with the partners as well as with beneficiaries on the progress being made and how to improve efficacy;
• Disburse the necessary and/or planned budgets for the implementation of the projects, if needed;
• Advise the chairperson and the HQ Coordinator about partner/field issues affecting project implementation, or key local issues affecting future project developments;
• Support the capacity building of local partners whenever possible.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION


• Ensure that all the possible and required data is collected in the field, captured in the relevant format;
• Conduct field visits to specific project groups to collect and measure the quality of the project implementation;
• Interview the project final beneficiaries and target groups to measure the project socio-economic impact and well-functioning;

COMMUNICATION


• Coordinate and monitor the communication team(s) based at HQ;
• Collect and document the project results, achievements, success stories and lessons learned from the project implementation process.
• Support in the development of all communication and visibility materials which includes but is not limited to; the external and internal newsletters, website articles, information and progress on social media, as well as fundraising events or campaigns.

REPRESENTATION


• Act as the official representative of Seeds, including at general meetings with communities, beneficiaries, partner organizations, local authorities;

FUNDRAISING AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT


• Coordinate with the HQ team to collect and prepare relevant documents and communication material for project funding;
• Meet local actors and potential new partners, and maintain external relationships that will be beneficial;
• Conduct studies and informal audit related to all sections of those potential new partnerships;
• Other activities as required.

REQUIREMENTS:


• Strong capacity to work in a fully autonomous manner, including navigating operational contexts with full independence
• Strong capacity to adapt to new contexts and different levels of living conditions
• Adventurous and socially engaged person
• Fluent English
• Exposed to similar experiences (preferable)
• Minimal availability: 3 months, ideally availability: at least 6 months
• Capacity to financially cover all costs related to this international volunteering experience (including flights, compulsory health insurance, food & accommodation, local transport, pocket money, etc.)

CONDITIONS:


• This is a volunteering experience. Seeds offers with this volunteer assignment an opportunity to be exposed to interesting field project coordination responsibilities, but Seeds has no capacity to financially support any cost related to the volunteer.
• Seeds is a small NGO with no legal presence in Uganda other than through its local partners, which represent the only focal points in Uganda for the Seeds volunteer. The Seeds volunteer will though be supported by the HQ team which will be fully accessible to onboard, guide & support the volunteer remotely.
