The Opportunity

Over the next decade, the world will either
build serious risk infrastructure
or live with escalating disruption.

The
Global Risks Forum (GRF)
is being set up as a neutral, non-profit governance body to help do the former: a permanent, multilateral forum where governments, financial institutions, industry, academia, and civil society coordinate on
how risk is measured, governed, and financed
.

We are assembling a small cohort of
Founding Board Members
to design and anchor this institution from the ground up.

This is an opportunity to:

• Shape the foundation of a modern risk-management industry
  – not a conference series or project, but a standing institution.
• Mobilize your platform
  (institutional, technical, financial, diplomatic) to build frontier de-risking infrastructure that can serve countries and markets for decades.
• Play a
  visible, constructive governance role
  without leaving your current full-time position.

If you already lead at scale and are looking for the public-interest role that "matches the moment," GRF is designed to be that role.

About GRF

GRF is the
governance and convening pillar
of a wider Nexus Ecosystem, whose aim is to provide a shared "risk rail" for:

• Climate and disaster risk
• Infrastructure and supply-chain resilience
• Financial and macro-systemic shocks

GRF's core functions will include:

• Council Register & Scorecards
  – who is responsible for what, and how fast they deliver;
• Multilateral Dialogue & Simulation
  – structured exercises where states, markets and communities can test policies and capital instruments before crises;
• Standards & Assurances
  – ensuring that evidence, regulation, and capital are working from the same numbers and rules.

GRF works alongside other independent non-profits (e.g., GCRI for science, GRA for risk-finance, NSF for standards) and with separate enterprise implementers. GRF itself is
mission-locked, non-profit, and standards-first
.

Role Purpose

As a
Founding Board Member
, you will:

Govern, not manage. Build, not inherit. Mobilize, not merely advise.

The Board's role is to:

• Set GRF's mission, guardrails, and strategy;
• Ensure GRF remains independent, credible, and effective;
• Use its collective reach to bring in the institutions, resources, and partnerships required to make GRF real.

This is a
governance and institution-building role
for senior leaders willing to commit time, reputation, and networks to a long-term public-interest project.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking
senior leaders
who already operate at scale and can bring real leverage into the room.

Experience

• Typically 15+ years in one or more of:
• Government, regulation, multilateral organisations, or central banking;
• Financial services, risk-finance, capital markets, or sovereign/municipal finance;
• Critical infrastructure, technology platforms, data/AI, climate or systemic risk;
• Humanitarian, development, or climate/disaster risk management at scale.
• Proven experience on
  boards, supervisory councils, or high-level advisory bodies
  .
• A clear track record of
  building or transforming institutions, coalitions or sectors
  , not only leading within existing ones.

Capabilities and mindset

• Strategic and systems-oriented: comfortable connecting policy, finance, technology, and operations.
• Builder mentality: willing to engage in the hard, often unglamorous work of designing charters, committees, and processes that last.
• High integrity and independence: prepared to navigate complex interests while holding the public-interest line.
• Strong convening and communication skills: able to bring diverse actors together and move them towards actionable commitments.
• Long-term lens: understands that building a global governance institution is a
  decade-scale project
  , not a one-off initiative.

Eligibility and independence

• Holds a
  full-time primary role
  (public, private, academic, or multilateral) and can dedicate sustained time and attention to GRF governance.
• Able to become and remain a
  GRF Member in good standing
  prior to nomination in
  Q1 2026
  .
• Willing to disclose all relevant interests and comply with strict conflict-of-interest and recusal policies.
• Not in a position where board service would clearly create unmanageable conflicts (any potential conflicts must be openly manageable through transparency and recusal).
