LNG/LPG Shipping Operator

This new asset class supports nature protection and provides sustainable financial returns.The roleShipping Operator is an intermediary between various departments in the Company and external stakeholders such as Ship Owners, Vessels, Port Agents, 3rd party Charterers etc. The role of a Shipping Operator is to ensure flawless, safe and efficient transportation of the goods on the Ships chartered in or, in case of Ships' employment with 3rd parties – chartered out, provide in-house support and expertise on the shipping related matters.In addition to the physical side of the operations, as part of their day-to-day duties, Shipping Operator is also responsible for maintaining accurate representation of the transportation arrangements and respective costs within the shipping software.Non-demurrage claims handling might also be assigned to the Shipping Operator as related to Vessels chartered in or out.The role is fast paced, dynamic and challenging. Involves support to worldwide operations that operate continuously and in multiple time zones which may require individuals to be available outside office hours.Key responsibilitiesSupport Chartering in obtaining port restrictions/costs and screening vessels with terminals/ports.Advise Chartering and Trading on tank cleaning and contamination risks.Vet vessels per Mercuria standards and coordinate ship/shore compatibility checks.Prepare voyage instructions and stowage plans (including multi-grade cargoes), proposing optimal loading and routing solutions.Optimize cargo stowage, bunker use, and—where applicable—heel and fuel/gas mode for LNG/LPG.Plan efficient vessel routing based on performance data, weather, and delivery schedules.Arrange STS operations, Panama Canal pre bookings/auctions, and bunkering for the time-chartered fleet; handle related disputes.Negotiate and manage shipping-related contracts (agency, towage, mooring, STS, etc.).Provide initial legal support on shipping matters, including LOIs and C/P clause drafting.Maintain IMOS data accuracy and voyage P&L; contribute to system improvements and ETRM integration.Technical expertise:+5 years of experience related shipping experience dealing with LNG/LPG management and hybrid workplace solutions.Sailing experience as a Chief Officer or Master on LNG carrier is preferred (must be combined with a shore experience in a trading or shipping company) but not mandatory if a candidate has solid and proven understanding of the Vessel and cargo technicalities.Some legal background or substantial exposure to claims under the voyage-/time-charter parties.Experience with the IMOS shipping system is an advantage but not mandatory.Familiarity with standard gas, tankers & dry voyage-/time-charter parties forms, FFAs and basic freight and bunker risk management techniques.P&L conscious and commercially mindedFluent EnglishNon-technical expertise:Must be hardworking and structured team player; must adhere to the corporate processes and workflows yet retain entrepreneurial mindset.
