We are seeking a highly skilled
Systems Engineer
with expertise in unmanned aircraft systems to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, integration, testing, and life-cycle management of complex UAS platforms, ensuring system reliability, performance, and compliance with regulatory standard
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the systems engineering life-cycle for unmanned aircraft platforms, from concept through development, integration, testing, and deployment.
- Define, analyze, and allocate system requirements in collaboration with stakeholders, including avionics, propulsion, communications, payload, and ground control subsystems.
- Develop and maintain system architecture, interface control documents (ICDs), and design specifications.
- Coordinate integration and testing activities, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations, flight tests, and ground tests.
- Perform system-level risk assessments, failure modes effects analysis (FMEA), and reliability engineering.
- Support certification and compliance efforts with aviation regulatory bodies (e.g., FAA, EASA).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, avionics specialists, and operations personnel.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support documentation for system design and operational procedures.
- Continuously monitor system performance and support troubleshooting and upgrades throughout the aircraft life-cycle.
Competencies & Duties:
- Working independently and responsibly. Perform tasks as described above.
- Compliance according to ANAVIA' employment contract, compliance with company' safety instructions and employee' safety requirements, compliance with employers' quality manual, work instructions and corresponding process specifications and instructions.
- International travel required of up to 25% of employee' working hours.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus. - Experience
: Proven experience (7+ years) in systems engineering roles related to unmanned aircraft or aerospace systems. Experience with system integration, testing, and troubleshooting methodologies. - Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and certification standards for unmanned aircraft (e.g., FAA Part 107, DO-178C, DO-254).
- Proficiency with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Polarion, SysML, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent.
- Skills
: Strong understanding of UAS architecture, avionics, control systems, communications, and payload integration. - Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across disciplines.
- Communication
: Very good communication skills. High social skills and good analytical and excellent technical understanding. - Language
: Good language skills in English (oral and written). German desirable.
