Business English Teacher (ESL) & IELTS Exam Preparation Coordinator for Law and Economics Students

Swiss School for International Relations in Geneva is currently seeking an dynamic and qualified dedicated professional to reinforce our team in the dual role of Business English as a Second Language (BESL) Instructor and IELTS Exam Preparation Coordinator. This position is specifically designed to meet the language needs of undergraduate students in the field of law and economics, with an additional focus on preparing them for the IELTS examination.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching Business English, possess strong communication skills, have a commitment to fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment and experience in coordinating exam preparation programs, specifically for the IELTS exam, creating an engaging and effective learning environment to enhance students' language skills in the context of business and economics.

Position: Business English as a Second Language (BESL) Instructor + IELTS Exam Preparation Coordinator

Location: Geneva, Switzerland

Contract Type: Renewable | TBD

Workload: 4-16 teaching hours | week

Job Mission:

  • Plan, prepare, deliver and assesses language lessons to for students with varying proficiency levels, mostly B2-C2 (including preparation to IELTS Examination)
  • Create and implement effective lesson plans
  • Perform administrative tasks related to IELTS Exam Preparation, planning of lessons etc.
  • Contribute to the development of digital educational materials
  • Integrate business and economic vocabulary, terminology, and case studies into language lessons.
  • Incorporate real-world business scenarios into lessons for practical application

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher level
    – BA/MA degree in English, Linguistics, Education, Economics or Teaching certificate (TESOL / CELTA / TEFL)
  • Native or near-native proficiency in English
  • Proven experience in teaching English as a Second Language
    , preferably in a business or economics context and | or in an international or multicultural setting
  • Experience coordinating exam preparation programs, specifically for the IELTS exam, familiarity with the IELTS examination format and requirements are highly desirable
  • Familiarity with economic concepts and terminology is highly desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Swiss or EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland at the time of application is a pre-requisite
