Primary Teacher (Full time)

Purpose of Role

The British School of Geneva is entering an exciting new chapter in its development as we

celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2025–26. With a mission to be the school of choice in

Geneva for outstanding British education in an international setting, we are seeking an

outstanding Primary Teacher.

The Teacher plays a central role in shaping the learning culture of the School by

demonstrating exemplary professional conduct, a commitment to continuous improvement,

and active contribution to the wider life of the School community.

Key Responsibilities

The duties outlined in this job description may be modified by the Principal, with your

agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary and job

title. It will be reviewed in the context of the School Development Plan and Performance

Management cycle.

  1. Teaching and Learning

  2. Plan, prepare and deliver lessons in accordance with the School's

  3. curriculum, schemes of work and assessment policies.
  4. Ensure that lessons are well structured, differentiated and engaging, with
  5. clear objectives and outcomes.
  6. Use a range of teaching strategies and digital tools to support active
  7. learning and inclusion.

  8. Regularly assess, record and report on students' attainment and progress.

  9. Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
  10. Maintain accurate records of assessment and contribute to data analysis
  11. and tracking processes.

  12. Pastoral Care and Student Welfare

  13. Promote the personal and social development of students, fostering respect, responsibility and wellbeing.

  14. Serve as a form tutor or class teacher, providing pastoral support and maintaining regular communication with parents.
  15. Follow the School's safeguarding and child protection procedures, reporting concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

  16. Professional Conduct and Development

  17. Uphold the values, ethos and reputation of The British School of Geneva in all professional interactions.

  18. Comply with the School's policies on safeguarding, health and safety, equality, inclusion and professional conduct.

  24. Attend and contribute to staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, professional learning sessions and other school events as required.

  27. Participate in co-curricular and enrichment activities, including extra-curricular activities, trips and events.

  28. Support School initiatives, celebrations and community outreach programmes.
  29. Uphold the highest standards of dress, punctuality and professionalism.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • QTS qualification or recognised equivalent.
  • Teaching certification and experience in primary/elementary education.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to engage and motivate young students.
  • Level of English : native
  • Create and implement lesson plans and activities for primary/elementary students.
  • Deliver engaging and effective instruction.
  • Assess and monitor student learning and progress.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
  • A proven facility with using relevant Information technology and complying with in-house systems of recordkeeping.
  • A proven ability to provide additional contribution to student experience beyond the mainstream curriculum.
  • A 10 Year Personal Background Police Clearance record (to include International
  • child protection certificate or equivalent).
  • 2 written references from Referees.
  • A current Work Permit to work in Switzerland.
