Job Summary

The Automation Lead, is responsible for the supervision and co-ordination of the remote automation engineering team who will be supporting implementation of software changes and configuration updates for the DeltaV system installed at the Dolphin / ADC project.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be the point of contact for the remote engineering team.
  • Manage the remote automation engineering team, and co-ordinate their engineering activities based on the agreed project priorities.
  • Provide technical support for the configuration of software changes for the following utility and process systems which are monitored and controlled by the DeltaV DCS.
  • Clean Utility Package Units connected to DeltaV using OPC-UA protocols.
  • Black Utility Package Unit and vendor skids using Modbus TCP/IP protocol.
  • Filling Suites including vial and syringe filling lines and associated support equipment. e.g. lyophilising freeze dryers, aseptic isolators etc using OPC-UA protocol.
  • Process support equipment including parts washers and autoclaves.
  • Compounding and SIP/CIP system using Ethernet, OPC-UA and Modbus TCP/IP protocols.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to the remote engineering teams for the generation and execution of test protocols for the package units interfaces to the site process control system (DeltaV).
  • Witness execution of software testing activities to confirm all changes implemented align with the existing DeltaV software structure including configuration of library objects.
  • Provide weekly status updates on the activities, issues and progress of the remote engineering team.

Skills / Qualifications

The following system knowledge and experience is required to support the above activities:

  • Bachelor's degree or trade qualification in Engineering (Electrical / Chemical / Process Control, or related field).
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in managing automation engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of the Automation team.
  • 10 to 15 years process control system design and configuration experience (essential).
  • 10 years (minimum) Siemens s7 series of PLCs, Zenon SCADA system and DeltaV DCS hands on design and configuration experience, including OPC-UA, Ethernet and Modbus TCP/IP communication protocols,(essential).
  • Knowledge of applicable Regulatory Requirements and Codes of Practices for automated system, including CFR 21 Part 11, GAMP 5 2nd Edition, (desirable).
  • Experience in the Life Sciences Industries (essential).
