The First Movers Coalition (FMC), part of the Centre for Climate and Nature at the World Economic Forum, is seeking a Lead, Government Engagement, Climate Action. The position is a full-time, Geneva-based role.

The First Movers Coalition is a flagship initiative of the World Economic Forum leveraging the collective purchasing power of companies to decarbonize hard-to-abate industrial sectors. Since its inception, the coalition has grown to include over 100 global companies and 14 governments committed to accelerating the deployment of emerging climate technologies.
To ensure continuity of government engagement during maternity leave coverage, the FMC team is seeking a Lead, Government Engagement, Climate Action to oversee the coalition's relationships with its 14+ government partners, collaborate with international partners, and to support expansion into priority countries.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Lead, Government Engagement, Climate Action will report directly to the Programme Head, First Movers Coalition, and will be responsible for the following:
Strategic Government and International Partnerships
Maintain and strengthen engagement with FMC's 14 government partners, ensuring regular coordination with anchor ministries and other government focal points as relevant.
Serve as primary liaison for all interaction between FMC and government/public sector entities across FMC portfolio of activities.
- Develop tailored value propositions for targeted new government members and deliver targeted outreach.
- Prepare analytical inputs and briefing materials to support FMC's engagement with ministries and international institutions.
- Lead engagement and coordination with international organizations and initiatives relevant to FMC's mission (e.g. UNIDO's Industry Deep Decarbonization Initiative (IDDI), the Breakthrough Agenda, and the UN Climate Champions), ensuring alignment of activities and delivery of joint outputs when relevant.
- Lead engagement with FMC Public Sector Champions (existing and prospective), including preparing inputs for Champions briefings and coordinating their contributions to FMC milestones meetings (e.g. AM26)
Policy, Partnerships, and Event Delivery
Lead public sector engagement for the preparation and delivery of milestones milestone FMC events including the following:
FMC sessions at AM26
- FMC in-country workshop in the Republic of Korea (March-April 2026)
- FMC session(s) at Forum event in Japan (Q2 2026)
- FMC Day (Q2 2026)
- FMC event in China
- Lead on the design and delivery of policy-focused sessions as part of FMC events (includes standalone FMC events and Forum events/international climate events that FMC contributes to)
- Ensure participation of FMC government partners across regularly scheduled FMC activities (e.g. sector working group meetings) as relevant and in coordination with sector leads, including leading on invitations and briefings
- Ensure consistency of government engagement messaging across FMC's communications and partnerships.
Internal and Cross-Team Coordination
- Work closely with the FMC core team and wider Forum teams (boarder CNC, CRTG, CENMAT) to ensure alignment and synergy between government engagement activities across the Forum.
- Maintain updated tracking tools and shared documentation for government contacts, engagement plans, and meeting summaries.
- Oversee implementation of government grants and coordination with grantor, support reporting and due diligence requirements in collaboration with grant operations specialist
- Prepare internal updates, talking points, and briefings for senior Forum leadership.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in climate policy, international relations, government affairs, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience managing relationships with government stakeholders and navigating public-sector processes at political and technical levels.
- Strong understanding of industrial decarbonization and global climate policy frameworks.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and precision.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to thrive in a multicultural environment and to work collaboratively across teams.
- Fluency in spoken and written English; additional languages are an asset.
