For our location in Bern, we are currently looking for a
**Process Analytical Technology (PAT) Lead Bern**:
In this interesting role you will work at the interface of analytical method development, process optimization and full-scale operations. You will have responsibility for improvement projects and represent PAT in cross-functional teams with local and global stakeholders, such as Operations, Quality, R&D and Engineering. Scientific and laboratory staff will rely on your guidance to ensure the development, validation and implementation of robust PAT methods for routine manufacture according to project timelines. In addition, you will contribute to the evaluation of new innovative analytical tools and accompany established PAT methods during their life cycle.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead PAT initiatives and represent PAT in global CSL Behring project teams.
- Translate project objectives into work plans and effectively communicate with PAT staff to deliver on project timelines.
- Drive the development and qualification/validation of real-time (at-/on-/in-line) PAT methods according to ICH and GxP guidelines.
- Support tech transfer and implementation of new PAT methods for CSL Behring manufacturing processes and expansion projects.
- Maintain PAT methods during their life cycle to ensure functionality in routine operations in alignment with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Lead exploratory studies to assess the potential of new technologies and methods for CSL processes at small and intermediate scale. Evaluate data and compile relevant study reports.
**Qualifications**:
- MSc or PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology or a related area and 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, chemistry or food industry.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills in English and German.
- Proven experience in analytical method development and validation, ideally within a biotech, pharma or food industry setting.
- Experience in NIR spectroscopy or other spectroscopic techniques, multivariate modeling (chemometrics), data analysis, and statistics.
- The following experience is desirable, but not necessarily required: Project management, programming, experience with SAS JMP and chemometrics software (e.g. OPUS, SIMCA).
