**Ridgeline Discovery is look**ing for an (Associate) Director, Cancer Cell Biology**. **Ridgeline Discovery**, a Versant Ventures Discovery Engine, creates and operates Versant-financed innovative biotech companies in partnership with entrepreneurs, industry, and leading academics across Europe. In recent years, Ridgeline has assembled an international team of >45 highly experienced drug discovery professionals and built and operated several new successful companies, including Black Diamond Therapeutics (NASDAQ: BDTX), Bright Peak Therapeutics and Monte Rosa Therapeutics (NASDAQ: GLUE). Ridgeline is currently expanding its capabilities in Basel to support further company creation efforts in small molecules, biologics, and gene/cell therapy with focus on oncology and immunology. To this purpose, we are hiring a **Cancer Cell Biologist** with proven track records in **oncology research and biologics therapeutics**. In this role, you will contribute to the development of new biotech companies and advancement of innovative biotherapeutics, you will design the scientific strategy to help propel new companies forward and will manage a lab of highly skilled scientists. As a key member of our team, you may also be responsible for leading some early research programs and communicating results to appropriate stakeholders. **RESPONSIBILITIES** - Contribute to managing CROs and internal research programs - Working with internal team and founders to build companies and recruit top talent - Identifying and developing novel and state of the art multi-cell assay formats - Leading and mentoring a lab composed of highly skilled scientists (Senior Scientists, Scientists and Research Associates) - Managing a matrixed team - Assessing the landscape for new opportunities that could be prosecuted by Ridgeline - Novel target/technology identification - Communicating with founders, board members, and Ridgeline leadership team **QUALIFICATIONS** - PhD and 3+ years of PostDoc in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Medicine, or other relevant disciplines - 5+ years’ work experience in pharma industry or biotech - Proven track record in cancer research - Proven track record in drug discovery, with an emphasis in biologics therapeutics - Experience in managing and mentoring direct reports - Ability to work with data scientists and to utilize cancer genomic platforms for data exploration and analysis as needed including cBioportal, DepMAP - Project Leader experience - Proficient at a range of molecular and cell biology techniques including but not limited to culturing primary and cancerous cells, RT-qPCR, Western blotting, ELISAs, FACS, high content cell imaging, CRISPR engineering - Experience in establishing and performing robust cell-based screening assays for development of therapeutics - Ability to work and make decisions independently - Able to work in a highly flexible environment - Fluent in English (spoken and written) **WHAT WE CURRENTLY OFFER** - ** Offices**: Our well-equipped laboratories and offices are located at the Tech Park, a premier address for early-stage start-ups in Basel. - ** Commuter Benefits**: We support our employees tailored to their personal needs in commuting to work and offer parking facilities or a commuter contribution. - ** Flexible Working**: We support flexible working as appropriate. - ** Christmas Closure**: In addition to the 24 holidays per year, our offices/labs are closed between Christmas and New Year. - ** Birthday Retreat**: On top of that, your birthday is your personal holiday - our employees enjoy their birthday with a day off. - ** Food**: We like get-togethers during lunch time.
