The proton accelerators at PSI include the cancer therapy facility PROSCAN, as well as the high-intensity proton accelerator (HIPA) with the world's most intense proton beam. The unit operation is responsible for the continuous operation of all four accelerator facilities from the main control room. For the group Operation HIPA we are looking for an**Accelerator physicist 80-100%****:
**Your tasks**:
Your primary task will be the operation of the PSI accelerator facilities within a team of operators (70% shift duty, 3-shift-7-day operation). In addition, you will assume the role of developing and maintaining the control room software (30%) in coordination with the controls section. As part of your shift work, you will help within a team with the commissioning and optimization of accelerator operation, diagnose and handle operational problems, collaborate on beam physics program and operate the remote personal safety systems.

**Your profile**:

- Academic degree in physics or a related field
- Experience with Linux software development and maintenance
- Your flexible, responsive operation readiness, as well as good German and English skills complete your profile
- Ideally, you have already gained experience with shift work and have a willingness for continuous training
