Niatsu is a cleantech Data as a Service startup. We combine sustainability data and technology to make emissions transparent within the food industry. Niatsu aims to bring real-time and scalable climate data on product level to food manufacturers. With food contributing over 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions and decision makers lacking the data they need, at Niatsu, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and collaborate on one of the most pressing challenges of our century.
Tasks
As head of science you are in charge of methodology behind our solution for life cycle assessments for agri-food products. You’ll work together with our technology department to bring real-time and scalable sustainability data to clients of Niatsu. You’ll work on modelling frameworks for automated life cycle analysis and take ownership of quality assurance behind our database. Additionally, you work together with policy makers and industry stakeholders to promote sustainability data and implement net-negative strategies in the food industry.
**Main Tasks**:

- As HoS you are responsible for developing the scientific framework.
- You oversee the scientific methodology of Niatsu automated carbon accounting standard.
- You are responsible for building up Niatsu’s scientific network and lead the conversation with industry experts and stakeholders. You build strategic partnerships within Europe.
- You bring in your expertise in life cycle analysis in all stage of business, including product development, sales and company vision.
- You work closely together with the founders to improve and scale Niatsu.

**Side Tasks**:

- Test and review new technology.
- You develop internal assessments for calculating the impact of Niatsu.
- You communicate and report on methodologies and scientific inventions published at Niatsu.

**Requirements**:
We are looking for a precise and ambitious climate scientist who want wants to revolutionize the food industry's approach to sustainability. You should be innovative, motivated, and understand that by working together to scale our data to more clients, we can significantly amplify our collective impact. You need to be an expert at life cycle analysis and bring previous experience in modeling food products. If you are committed to sustainability and to make a positive impact on the environment while also having an entrepreneurial mindset, you are a great fit.
**Must Have**:

- In depth experience with life cycle analysis for agri-food products, product carbon footprints and carbon accounting. Expertise in tools and databases such as Ecoinvent, SimaPro and Gabi. Ideally you have some experience with Brightway LCA.
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment - you are familiar with the greenhouse gas protocol, ISO 14040, ISO 14044, science-based targets initiative and corporate sustainability reporting.
- Fluency in English, other languages (e.g. German) advantageous.
- You are an expert on the newest trends and developments in the fight against climate change and follow the trends of leading institutions like the IPCC.

**Nice to have**:

- Excellent network of people in the Swiss and European sustainability industry.
- You can code in python.
- You have previously been published in the field of sustainability.
