According to various marketing and industry research, Enterprises and Service Providers are increasing their investment in Edge Computing. They see the need to handle new classes of workloads which need to process information closer to the end users and devices, support real-time decision making, and analyze large volume of data, while being highly distributed in nature. You will get to focus on edge solutions for manufacturing which is one of the top industry segments that will adopt Edge Compute in meet their business objectives such as building digital factory, being sustainable, and improving worker safety. The edge team is a newly formed group within VMware Service Provider and Edge Business Unit (SEBU). We are a high impact team working at the forefront of VMware's strategy, whose mission is to help our customers in their journey to the edge and to create new business for VMware. Our team believes in continuous learning, collaborating, and knowledge sharing. You will get to work directly with VMware account teams, ecosystem partners, and our customers to understand their business needs, develop an edge solutions that leverage both VMware portfolios and our ecosystem partners, and take edge solutions to the market through VMware sellers, System Integrators, Service Providers, and OEM partners. And you will not have to do this alone. You will get the support of your peers and your leaders to accomplish the following - Within 30 days, you will know the teams and individuals that you will work with. You understand where we are currently and start executing on the current plan. You will have mentor who will help you settle into your new role. You understand VMware Edge solution and participate in customers, partners, and project discussions - Within 90 days, you understand in detail the current capabilities, roadmaps, and existing edge solutions. You understand and can speak about other VMware solutions around multi-cloud, Telco, and app modernization and how edge fits in. You can contribute to the discussion around edge and manufacturing with customers and partners including presenting and performing a demonstration. You also own the follow up or action items/questions from customers and partners. You can represent VMware at trade show, conference, or marketing event. - Within 180 days, you are the expert of all things edge and manufacturing about what we are currently doing and what we should be doing next. You understand the industry trend and how VMware needs to adapt to the trend. You are on your way in developing more solutions. You can lead the customer and partner discussions and contribute your knowledge back to the team in the form of white paper, blogs, slides, demo, webinars, and videos. You speak at relevant trade shows or marketing events to increase more awareness of VMware in edge and manufacturing - Within 1 year, you have successfully created and launched one or more edge solutions for manufacturing. You have helped our sales team succeed in selling edge into manufacturing. You become the goto person and a trust advisor for the fields, partners, and customers. You have mentored and helped new team members. You continue to learn from customers, markets and identify area of improvement, new opportunities, or new solutions, and are on the roll **The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?** A day in life of Edge Solution Architect for Manufacturing will include many or all of the following when it comes to edge and manufacturing - Develop vision, strategy, roadmap, and go to market plan - Create slides, white papers, blogs, architecture diagram, and demonstration - Support or lead business, strategy, and technical presentation to manufacturing customers, ecosystem partners, and system integrator as part of pre-sales process - Create architecture, design for the respective solution, and use cases to meet business and technical objectives - Identify new use cases based on market trend, customer, and partner conversation - Try things out in the lab such as tweaking configurations, A
