**Your responsibilities**:

- We are seeking a motivated and reliable Postdoctoral Researcher (80-100%) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will develop protocols for clinical sample analysis for our randomized trial and prospectively compare phage susceptibility methods for correlation with clinical outcomes. Additionally, you will oversee students and technicians conducting experiments in the wet lab, providing guidance and support. You will act as the primary point of contact for addressing scientific questions related to bacteriophages. Therefore, strong prior knowledge of bacteriophages is essential. Experience in with bioinformatics and statistics is appreciated. We are looking for a proactive individual ready to support and drive innovative scientific initiatives to bring phage therapy into the clinics.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Develop protocols for clinical sample analysis for a randomized clinical trial (qPCR, protein quantification, etc.)
- Validate and compare phage susceptibility methods to be used for patient enrolment and monitoring
- Lead and drive the scientific direction of the team, ensuring the research remains innovative and aligned with current advancements.
- Take a proactive approach in educating and mentoring the team on the latest scientific developments, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused environment.
- Supervise and mentor Ph.D. students, master students or research assistants as needed.
- Be the main point of contact for scientific queries, providing guidance and insights in the field of bacteriophages.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research.

**Your profile**:

- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Virology, or a related field
- Prior experience in working with bacteriophages
- Ability to formulate scientific hypotheses and carry out experimental work to support them
- Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues
- Comfortable using basic software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office) and statistical software tools (e.g. R)
- Communication skills in English are required, as this is the primary language used for documentation and communication within the lab. Any proficiency in German is a plus.
