Experienced professional and scientist in the field of formulation development for biologics / mRNA-LNP. Good evidence for delivering on commitments and working collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams. He/she will be in charge of developing and running dedicated formulation related methods and tests, while assisting with other ongoing developments, based on defined innovation project plan. He/she plays a crucial role in the network between the different departments focusing on mRNA and LNP formulation platform development. He/she is accountable for the performance and results of the assigned projects.

**Specific accountabilities**:

- Close collaboration with principal scientists, and other associates in the team with focus mRNA formulation
- Setting up and maintenance of Innovation lab facilities
- Support of activities in mRNA Innovation, process development and/or analytical development may be requested if justifiable by extreme workloads.
- Actively participates in research and development activities, including performing research, writing of protocols, SOPs, URS, etc reporting research results in writing and verbal presentations.
- Support the development and implementation of the site quality
- May assist with purchasing and stocking of lab consumables and equipment.
- Serve as Proxy to the development units coordinator upon request of leadership.
- Support the unit Head in the implementation of lab operational and logístical activities
- Execution of mRNA encapsulation into lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), Chromatography and Tangential Filtration operations along with related analytical techniques
- Act as a trainer of new staff and coworkers in the expertise units of operation.
- Work via DoE approach and statistical evaluation of data
- Ensuring developed methods meet requirements, potentially also for GMP/QC environment

**Generic accountabilities**:

- Prepare oral and written reports to communicate scientific findings and to support project documentation and CMC submissions.
- Comply with data integrity requirements for laboratory work.

**Key requirements**:

- M.Sc. / phd within Biotechnology, bioengineering, chemical engineering, analytical chemistry
- Experience in formulation development for biomolecules, with preference experience with mRNA formulation in lipid nanoparticles
- Expert-level experience & understanding of handling, purification and processing of biomolecules.
- Experience in mRNA is preferred but not essential.
- Experience with chromatographic methods and TFF systems is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently work in a fast paced and fluid environment, changes in priority and timeline restrictions
- Knowledge of technology transfer and GMP manufacturing an advantage
- Pilot Scale: Purification techniques using pilot scale equipment, single-use systems, scale-up, process consistency, process control strategy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including good command of English language.Preferred Qualifications (This would be a plus):

- Understanding of purification of biologics, specifically large size mRNA & LNP, including process scale-up.
- Hands-on experience with a wide range of purification, formulation and analytical techniques for large nucleic acid molecules including affinity capture, ion exchange and hydrophobic interactions.
- Design and execute DOE studies & high-throughput screen for purification process improvements and advancements
