**The Role**
Straumann is seeking to fill an important leadership role within the Global R&D and Innovation organization (RDI) with an energetic and inspiring people leader to be the Head of Product Development for the Straumann Dental Implant Systems (SDIS), the core products and main revenue driver of our premium implantology brand.

In this role you will be accountable for directing the technical development and improvement of surgical and prosthetic components as well as Biomaterials for the Straumann dental implant system in-line with the business strategy of the company. Based on multidisciplinary exchanges with customers, Product Management, and sales, you and your team play a critical role in identifying “customer problems worth solving” and are responsible to create innovative technical solutions for these challenges.

**Responsibilities**
- Lead the Development Group by translating the R&D strategy into actionable goals
- Support the Head R&D in developing and implementing a customer-focused R&D strategy
- Provide technical leadership to ensure problem-solution fit and innovativeness of new products
- Exhibit a high sense of urgency to aggressively advance products from ideation to commercial launch
- Proactively search for the right balance between innovativeness and time-to-market
- Ensure appropriate staffing and resolve resource conflicts in projects
- Support Head R&D in continuously optimizing the Straumann Product Development Process
- Help your team members to grow in their roles and actively support their personal development and career progression
- Develop an agile and decisive high-performance team with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Inspire and empower your team members to achieve personal and collective successes
- Supervise bachelor and master projects
- Responsible for own cost centre

**Profile**
Education
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Life Science required, Master’s Degree preferred, post graduate education is a plus.

Experience
- The position requires more than 7 years’ experience in the field of medical device development and/or commercialization.
- Knowledge in applicable standards and regulations (MDR, FDA, ISO) and experience in dental is a strong plus.
- A minimum of 3 years leading teams is expected.
- Work experience in different geographies is a clear advantage.
