Head Eso Sandoz

Your Responsibilities:
500 million That’s the number of patients using Sandoz medicines every year and the number is about to grow. Sandoz, a Novartis division, is a leader in generic and biosimilar medicines.

Job Purpose
This role will lead External Supply Organization (ESO) Sandoz TechOps. The Head ESO will be end to end accountable for all external manufactured or purchased Sandoz products produced under GMP. She /he will oversee Supplier Relationship Teams (SRTs) that are responsible for all aspects of external manufacturing and packaging for Sandoz by setting objectives (supply, quality, financials), driving consistency of practices, ensuring all legal and code of conduct requirements are met, managing trade‐offs for resources and projects, shaping operational strategies with the Sandoz leadership team. He / she will deliver on the supply and cost objectives while ensuring full compliance and improving quality standards, through a motivated, engaged and empowered organization.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Ensure that manufactured/purchased materials and products achieve highest performance standards with respect to supply, quality, price and regulatory requirements.
- Establish the supplier/CMO base (buy strategy) which complements the need of the internal manufacturing strategy and drives strong supplier relationships with respect to value creation and partnership.
- Ensure close alignment within STO, as well as close collaboration with ComOps, Development and BD&L and ensure the success of the SRTs, by being an effective coach, creating appropriate connections across the sup-ply chain and value chain, providing strategic direction, fostering a strong performance culture, effective collaboration, providing timely information and promoting fast and fact‐based decision making.
- Establish high performing, stable, compliant and cost effective relationships with third party suppliers. Proactively manage risk and develop mitigation plans with 3rd parties (e.g. supply disruptions and OTIFs, commercial savings).
- Build communication channels, establish solid contacts and governance structure for supplier relation-ships. Establish and maintain the link (strategy, processes, tools) between local and global organizations, to manage overlapping suppliers/products.
- Ensure alignment on supplier strategies, negotiations and changes with functional heads. Define targets and objectives of all teams with corresponding functional heads and review performance with SRTs, agree on pro-jects/priorities and monitor progress.
- Ensure support of the required TechOps experts (Technical, QA, Purchasing, Legal, etc.) when dealing with 3rd‐party suppliers and provide best tools to SRTs and give global support to local External Supply Operations for Sourcing, SCM, etc. Participate as the representative for 3rd‐party due diligence and projects related to “make or buy” decisions.
- Ensure alignment between ESO and CPOs, Commercial Operations and other key stakeholders with interactions and member of the Novartis Technical Operations, Sandoz TechOps Leadership Team, optional in Regional Sandoz Executive Teams

**Minimum requirements**

What you’ll bring to the role:

- University degree Science, Pharmaceutical, Engineering or related field with professional/advanced degree qualification advantageous
- English fluency, with other languages, German, French, Spanish, Italian desirable
- Minimum 10 years in a leading operational role
- Minimum 15 year experience in Pharmaceutical industry
- Minimum 10 years of people management responsibility
- Strong leadership skills and experience in leading diverse multi-cultural teams to success
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with strong analytical and execution abilities
