**What you’ll do**

As the International Associate Medical Director for Vaccines and Immune Therapies, you will collaborate cross functionally in both the region and its countries to drive medical leadership, launch new medicines and build the medical capabilities in the teams.

Locations: Zug, Switzerland or AZ International office locations
- Design the International medical strategy for the therapy area as well as co-create the regional brand strategy together with the commercial lead ensuring the commercial and medical strategies are fully aligned on the key objectives.
- Deliver the medical advocacy plan in alignment with the prelaunch/launch planning and activities across International for vaccines and infectious diseases portfolio
- Works cross-functionally to provide the medical input and expertise, and design and deliver clinical trials within the Therapeutic Area (TA), including clinical trial protocol oversight
- Support the key area/country medical teams, ensuring they have the proper training, skill set and knowledge to deliver high quality medical affairs communication and activities
- Drive close collaboration with global and regional teams to ensure the needs of the region are shared and understood and stay informed on latest strategies and priorities
- Provide medical expertise and advice where required and stay up-to-date on the latest scientific, medical and competitor developments on relevant indications, including disseminating new information to transform clinical trends and emerging data into new confidence plans
- Develop and manage relationships with the relevant key external experts in the region
- Develop, manage and oversee above-country activities and projects including evidence generation, external medical education, insight gathering to fill identified gaps (data or education) among others
- Represents AstraZeneca at scientific and medical forums, including medical education forums, scientific roundtables, congresses, and symposia
- Ensure compliance with AZ Policies and Standards with special emphasis on Code of Conduct, Ethical Interaction Policy and Standards, Privacy (Patient Group interactions) and Procurement (engagement of third parties)

**Essential for the role**
- A Postgraduate Degree is required with scientific experience, preferably with an advanced degree (e.g., PhD; MD with Master’s degree or PharmD)
- Proven years of experience in medical affairs including country and leadership experience of strategic medical planning, launch planning and execution
- You have successes in team management and project management
- Extensive experience in collaborating with external parties and managing cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
- Solid business understanding and acumen
- General understanding of safety and regulatory requirements across emerging markets

**Desirable for the role**
- Therapy area knowledge and experience in vaccines or infectious diseases
- Experience in leading a clinical study program including overall design, clinical development plan and TPP
- Strong external network of external experts in the vaccines and infectious diseases space in markets that we operate
- You have had an exposure or experience at an above country leadership role or assignment
