Situated within the Department of Data, Insight and Policy (DDIP), the Migration and Displacement Data and Research Analytics Division delivers on enhanced and refined analysis of migration and displacement dynamics at the global level, leveraging high-quality IOM assets, such as the World Migration Report (WMR), displacement data analysis, strategic foresight and anticipatory action modelling, utilising internal IOM expertise as well as key partnerships with external experts from across sectors.

The internal-facing outputs will inform Senior Leadership Team briefing and decision-making on the implementation of the Strategic Priorities as well as the Office of Strategy and Organizational Performance (OSP) organizational/positioning analysis, while the external-facing outputs will be used to reinforce IOM’s standing as a global leader on migration analysis in a highly uncertain world.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of DDIP, the Chief, Migration and Displacement Data and Research Analytics Division will work closely with Displacement Tracking Matric operations in the Department of Humanitarian response and Recovery (DHRR) as well as support Regional Offices, including Deputy Regional Directors for Operations and Regional Data Hubs on data and research analysis and capacity building.

Responsibilities: Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Lead the planning and implementation of Migration and Displacement Data and Research Analytics activities and manage the Division’s human and financial resources.
Provide expert advice to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Departments and Regional and Country Offices on migration and displacement data and research global analytics as well as support regional and national efforts.
Provide expert advice to leverage IOM’s role as a key contributor in the international community’s efforts to broaden and strengthen the evidence base on migration and displacement data at the global level.
Provide expert guidance on migration and displacement analytics, methods, and outputs for global leverage, in coordination with DRDOs and RDHs, to ensure a coherent approach and strengthening of data, research, and analysis to inform project design and development.
Supervise global analytical efforts leveraging advanced data science and drawing on key internal and external data sources to ensure high quality, robust, cutting-edge analytical outputs, reinforcing IOM’s position as the pre-eminent source of migration and displacement data and analysis worldwide,
Ensure close collaboration between the Division and the Department of Humanitarian Response and Recovery, toward comprehensive analysis that supports and contributes to the Organization´s long-term goals and strategic thinking.
Supervise the delivery of the Migration Research and Analysis Insight Briefs on priority topics of relevance to the SLT as well as senior managers across the Organization, including as part of the LT's TDY briefings (e.g. geopolitical snapshots, and labour market snapshots)
Lead, manage and deliver migration research outputs for external audiences, including via IOM publications and other publishing outlets, including the delivery of written outputs as well as presentations to research conferences and other events.
Represent the Organization and support the coordination of IOM expertise in migration and displacement data and research, and related advocacy in the context of relevant academic and policy data and research events, as well as in re
