(Cen) Mortar Laboratory Technician

Support the Mortar Global R&D activities and projects by conducting all the relevant and required laboratory work for the evaluation of new mortar formulations of grout adhesives, and render materials.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Support the Mortar Global R&D with the evaluation of new products, innovative solutions, and new developments.
- Perform the benchmarking of new raw materials notably in the field of tile adhesives and grouts, floor levelling compounds, repair mortars etc.
- Prepare samples and formulations, perform laboratory experiments, record accurately the data, compile technical reports in defined format, suggest next steps and new experiments.
- Write SOPs and train additional laboratory personnel.
- Responsible of maintenance, calibration and basic troubleshooting of equipment, interaction with suppliers.
- Participate and support joint projects with other R&D Areas (construction products, cement products, admixtures).
- Support the laboratories activities and organisation related to chemical/admixtures management and handling.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree or apprenticeship in chemistry or apprenticeship in building/construction with sound knowledge of chemistry
- 3 years previous experience in a laboratory environment
- Highly experienced in formulating products like tile adhesives and grouts, self-leveling-compounds, mortars, etc
- Ability to work in a team and in various project simultaneously
- Self-sufficient, independent, hardworking individual
- Good communication and writing skills in English
- Other language skills are a plus (Spanish, French, German)

INTERNAL: Researchers, local managers and project leaders, external peers in CEMEX operations.

EXTERNAL: Raw material suppliers, providers for analytical tools and machines related to work tasks (maintenance, spare part.
