Business Development Manager

Main Purpose:
Source, structure, and execute asset-backed mining transactions that create optionality and trading flow. Lead deals from origination to close.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Deep understanding of mining economics, project finance, and offtake structures
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and structuring skills
- Familiarity with legal documentation related to secured transactions and offtakes
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional deal teams under tight timelines
- Advanced negotiation skills across technical, legal, and commercial aspects
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
- Highly analytical with a strong risk management mindset
- Ability to independently originate, evaluate, and execute complex transactions globally
Key Responsibilities
- Structuring & execution: Own term sheets, models, credit papers, covenants, and security packages; negotiate offtake/finance docs to signing/close.
- Credit & risk: Drive LLCR/PLCR/DSCR case packs, stress tests and collateral coverage; lead deal approvals.
- Stakeholders: Manage counterparties, lawyers, technical consultants and internal control functions.
Competencies
- 10-15 years total experience; minimum 8 years in a combination of private equity, mining finance, structured credit, or hedge fund roles with full-cycle deal exposure
- Background in a Tier 1 investment bank with subsequent experience at a leading natural resources private equity or credit fund
- Strong track record in distressed debt and/or special situations investing
- Demonstrated jurisdictional depth in at least two of the following key mining regions:
- Australia
- Africa
- Latin America
- North America
