Head of Data Management in Banking Operations

For the role as Head of Data Management (DM) we are looking for a leader with sound business experience, deep understanding of data management in banking and a successful track record in transforming operational units.

The DM unit comprises 30+ professionals located in Zürich and forms a part of Global Services within Banking Operations. DM is responsible for the collection and processing of data, enabling key products like client and tax reporting and portfolio performance measurement. Additionally, DM is taking care of global reconciliation activities and the related risk management, control processes and quality management. Lastly, the unit is in charge of the overall Data Strategy in Banking Operations ensuring data integrity, accuracy and regulatory compliance, and supports other Operations departments with data and analytics instruments and initiatives.

**YOUR CHALLENGE**:

- Lead and oversee all aspects of data management and reconciliation operations, ensuring efficiency, data quality and compliance with regulatory and service standards
- Develop and implement Banking Operations Data strategy, in collaboration with Julius Baer CDO
- Lead a data-driven transformation to continuously improve and streamline Operations, reducing costs and enhancing overall performance and client experience
- Act as a translator between Management, Business and technical teams, including data science, data engineering and software engineering
- Monitor service performance, client satisfaction, market trends and economic indicators to make informed decisions and mitigate risks
- Manage an experienced team of professionals, providing guidance, mentorship and fostering a collaborative work environment
- Establish and maintain strong relationship with internal stakeholders and external partners to support business objectives

**YOUR PROFILE**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science or related fields. MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Strong understanding of data concepts within business context, including data flows and interfaces, data storage, data models, data distribution, data governance and data security, as well as predictive modelling, machine learning and AI
- Proven experience in Data Management gained in either an operational or a change role, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
- Good understanding of core banking topics from investment to execution, settlement, and reporting, including systems and processes. Experience in international wealth management a plus
- Experience with cross-entity service provision, the management of remote teams and third party service provider is a strong asset
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to decompose complex solutions and data insights into compelling strategic recommendations
- Convincing personality with a history of effectively managing teams and fostering a culture of excellence and a track record in transforming a function as change leader or business responsible
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving business needs
- Proficient in English. All other languages a plus
