Communication / Fundraising Intern

**Overview**

ConnectAID, the International Solidarity Network, is seeking global citizens and change makers to help engage the wider public in its meaningful work. Our Community Advocate Programis a competitive process through which the most active, game changing and determined individuals are chosen to spread the word of our Movement. In a viral setting, ConnectAID offers you the chance to use your existing knowledge and experience as a bridge between people and humanitarian needs in the field.

**We are now looking for a volunteer Intern Community Advocate (CA) with a focus on social media and Fundraising/ grant writing, 60% to 100%, 6 months minimum.**

ConnectAID was founded on a strong network within the international development and humanitarian sector - but it owes much of its success to the support of individuals like yourself who want to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The commitment of people from many walks-of-life and varied experience is what has made ConnectAID the viral, essential and transformative Platform it is today.

ConnectAID, the International Solidarity Network, is a Swiss NGO based in Geneva. It works as a communication support and humanitarian social impact network dedicated to sustainable development actions, for greater social, humanitarian and environmental impact. Its goal is to connect people to international aid.

Understanding the challenges and complexities of the humanitarian and development aid sector, we support international nonprofit organizations, UN agencies, Foundations and Corporations to communicate about their impact and deliver the best sustainable development results. Here is a summary of what we have done since we started in 2018:

- In addition to our intense activity as **Influencers on all social media**, we created our own **Social Impact Network** connecting thousands of individuals and Nonprofit Organizations around sustainable development topics
- We empowered a community of **21 vetted organizations through communication support**. As a ripple effect, over **3 million lives have been positively impacted**.
- We launched an **Academy** of schools, teachers & selected youth voices to teach young generations about sustainable development
- We recruited a team of **hundreds of Ambassadors, Advocates, youth & volunteers**:

- We organized **monthly events**: trainings, video podcasts, SDG Book Corners and online Conferences
- We published a weekly updated **ranking list of 650 SDG influencers** encouraging others to take action online
- We organized the first **World Summit of SDG Influencers**, which reached over 3 millions individuals in 2021
- We organized field missions to support local NGO projects.

Are you an experienced communications professional with a background that includes social media management, digital communications and/or fundraising? Would you like to help us build a future where solidarity is the norm, and nonprofits organizations, Foundations and corporations work together to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals?

This position is a combination of storytelling/content creation with an emphasis on social media management and fundraising. We are looking for a creative thinker/planner who is not afraid to suggest out-of-the-box ideas and work independently.

This person will be able to work remotely and will need to be flexible and reactive to last minute requests, as well as managing longer term deadlines.

**GENERAL INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION**:

- Content creation - Write posts, blogs, articles, and create communication materials (including videos) for all social media channels, about ConnectAID, its nonprofits partners and sustainable development more broadly.
- Social media Management - Manage and grow ConnectAID’s and non-profits' presence through blogs, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and other strategically relevant online forums.
- Conduct research on Foundations to eventually partner with ConnectAID, creating a repository of contacts and background information.
- Create visuals through canva. Eventually help edit videos.
- Conduct research for media outreach and media monitoring.
- Edit documents in English, and eventually translate them into French, German or Spanish (if fluent)
- Help coordinate monthly online conferences.
- Keep abreast of the latest social media technologies, platform changes, and trends and advise ways to evolve our strategies accordingly
- Deliver other tasks as needed.

**REQUIRED SKILLS**:

- Fluent in English;
- Graduate, or post-graduate experience in communications, social media management and/or fundraising;
- Proven experience in social media management and/or in fundraising (minimum 2 years as professional);
