This post is located in the Monitoring, Evaluation, Risk Management and Statistical Verification Section, Central Planning and Coordination Service (CPCS), Division of Conference Management (DCM), Department for General Assembly and Conference Management, Geneva. The incumbent will report to the Chief of Section and the gData 2.0 Project Manager. **Responsibilities**: Within delegated authority, the Data Scientist will be responsible for the following duties: - Works with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions. - Mines and analyzes data from organization databases to drive optimization and improvement of programme development, advocacy and business strategies. - Assesses the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques. - Uses predictive modeling to increase and optimize entity experiences, benefit realization and other business outcomes. - Develops organization A/B testing framework and test model quality. - Coordinates with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes - Designs and coordinates the development of processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy. - Provides guidance and support to team members and contractors on methodologies and best practices pertaining to conference management data and statistical methodologies and on software testing and data verification approaches. - Develops interactive web data visualization decision support solutions primarily in Power BI, based on knowledge and understanding of existing business processes and practices in the Conference Management workflow. - Assists in the review of data integrity within DCM databases, identifies areas where data integrity is an issue and reviews an analyses business processes with the aim to improving data for statistical purposes. - Performs other duties as assigned. Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in data science, computer science, information management, statistics, public administration, public information, management or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work Experience A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in data science, data analytics, applied mathematics, information management or related area is required. Experience of data Science tools such as Jupyter, Matlab, Knime, SPSS, SAS, or similar Statistical Programming Languages such as R, Python, Javascript or related is desirable. Experience with PowerBI and SQL is desirable. Experience in conference management monitoring and reporting is desirable. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Office at Geneva. For this post advertised, fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
