Manager of Policy

We are looking for a Manager of Policy & Commercial Operations to join us in Zug.

The Manager of Policy & Commercial Operations is responsible for execution and governance to ensure a common approach to commercial/pricing process and standards across the enterprise. This role will assist in the development and execute on established guidelines and policies that create consistent pricing methodologies requiring close collaboration with product, proposition, sales, marketing and finance. The role establishes the analytical rigor required around pricing and related commercials to ensure the business is making sound business and optimal pricing decisions.

The role establishes the analytical rigor required around pricing and related commercials to ensure the business is making sound business and optimal pricing decisions.

The role is part of a centralized commercial team sitting within the Thomson Reuters Enterprise Centre in Zug, Switzerland. The site is the global headquarters of Thomson Reuters. As part of the enterprise center, you will work closely with sales and the GTM teams on commercial transactions for our most important accounts.

You will be responsible for reviewing, integrating and executing the pricing strategy for Thomson Reuters products/services. The role also provides sales support on non-standard commercials and is responsible for implementation of corrective action where required through the enterprise commercial process.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Individual is responsible for:

- Act as a commercial pricing custodian through day-to-day governance; Ensure price quotes and contracts are negotiated within the commercial policy guidelines for the enterprise
- Support strategic deal desk team and other pricing functions to drive pricing strategy through strategic partnerships with the business and regions.
- Assist in the creation of a commercial/pricing escalation and approval process for sales transactions falling outside of sales and segment authority; provide governance in the commercial transaction process
- Maintain and ensure proper functioning of the price/commercial escalation and approval process on a go forward basis and work closely with sales and GTM teams on commercial transactions
- Assist in development and execute on the mechanics surrounding the integration of pricing strategy for Thomson Reuters across the enterprise
- Executing changes or improvements, where required through the enterprise commercial process.
- Ensure price terms and customer investments reflect respective customer counter performance and strategic fit
- Handle day-to-day transactional deal pricing escalation requests and ensure timely delivery of compliant and commercially sound offers to sales
- Support the commercial and pricing teams globally to harmonize and implement key commercial policy processes across the Thomson Reuters markets
- Support the Commercial Leadership in Zug in the development of innovative deal structures, manage risk within the contractual terms and structure and educate the sales team on our latest product bundles and offerings
- Assist in the develop best practices for pricing and business terms, based on the improved use of data and market knowledge to support decisions
- Collaborate with sales leadership to effectively coordinate and manage month and quarter end deal closure
- Monitor the system set up of commercial terms and pricing conditions in SAP and other supporting systems to ensure alignment with commercial policies and operational processes
- Work on Commercial Strategy and Policy team’s daily activities to ensure business continuity
- Develop relevant cross-functional relationships to understand products, competition, and the competitive market
- Work closely with finance, legal counsel and business operations department to optimize contract terms and close deals and ensure compliance with internal controls
- Analyze pricing KPIs and act as a consultant towards sales, segments, marketing and finance to drive continuous pricing and profitability performance improvements

**ABOUT YOU**

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
- Bachelor’s 5-10 years of working experience (2+ years professional experience in proposing, negotiating and delivering products and services to clients is preferred)
- High willingness to work as an individual contributor
- Experience in a pricing, commercial controlling role, in the B2B and digital product domains
- Excellent analytical skills in order to understand and explain complex commercial situations
