**Research Fellow - Venture Asset Management Initiative**

In collaboration with an external partner, IMD is establishing a Venture Asset Management Initiative to accelerate and deepen academic and investment practitioner understanding of venture asset management in Switzerland and Europe (the “Initiative”) by bridging the gap between the status quo and the dynamic potential of venture asset management. It is envisaged that the Initiative will drive engagement and improve understanding of general and technical knowledge on venture asset management in Switzerland and Europe.

The Research Fellow will be a key contributor to the Initiative’s research program and thought leadership and will be working in a small team of researchers with Professor Karl Schmedders.

**Key Activities**

The primary responsibility of the Research Fellow is to conduct rigorous research on the topic of venture investing and venture asset management.

**The role includes the following key activities**:

- Delivering quality outputs in line with Faculty expectations and academic standards
- Writing articles
- Providing proactive ideas and suggestions that will lead to new ways of thinking or new ways of presenting research material
- Building good working relationship within IMD, as well as external stakeholders involved in a research project
- Managing expectations and driving the project throughout the research assignment

The Research Fellow has a high level of responsibility for proactively driving research projects and delivering outputs of the highest academic quality.

**Ideal profile**
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong skills in econometrics and statistics
- Experience with data collection and statistical software packages
- Strong interest in empirical finance.
- Knowledge of mathematical optimization is a plus
- Self-starter; team player, good communication skills
- PhD in a relevant discipline
- Ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Demonstrable expertise in portfolio constructions
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and proactively with mínimal supervision
- Deadline and results oriented
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Full fluency in English (written and spoken) at a native level or equivalent, knowledge of another language spoken in Switzerland a plus
- Ability to combine theoretical knowledge with practical relevance
