Discovery Sciences (DSc) at Novartis Biomedical Research (BR) is currently seeking a talented individual to join our Data Science team as a Multimodal Data Integration expert.
As an integral part of our team, you will collaborate with scientists in different disease and functional areas across the organization to progress our drug discovery research.
Your responsibilities will include identifying novel drug targets, building predictive models, formulating actionable hypotheses, and generating valuable insights from data.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Using our internal data42 repository of clinical and preclinical studies to build models to inform early discovery efforts by leveraging clinical and pre-clinical multimodal data.
- Serving as a bridge between valuable data assets and project teams to enrich early preclinical hypothesis generation with insights translated from late-stage pipeline data.
- Independently designing, utilizing, and enhancing bioinformatics tools and models specifically tailored for the integration of multimodal data to enable the exploration of multiple biological layers.
- Working with experimental and computational scientists in DSc and other departments to develop tools, build models, populate databases, and visualize data to accelerate and elevate drug discovery projects.
- Communicating data and analyses to broad scientific audiences comprising both experimental and computational scientists.

**Role Requirements**
- Master's or PhD in quantitative field such as computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, or physics. Experience working on problems in the life sciences is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to present complex data science concepts in digestible terms to diverse scientific audiences.
- Demonstrated strong scientific curiosity, initiative, and learning agility.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team (biologists, chemists, data scientists, etc.), with strong communication skills (verbal, written, virtual).
- Expertise working in Linux high performance computing and cloud environments.
- Expertise in scripting languages, experience with Python and R scientific stacks, track record of building custom scientific software using best practices (version control, testing, documentation).
- Experience identifying, curating, and integrating data from internal and external sources.
- Hands-on expertise and a proven track record in utilizing patient/clinical data to generate actionable hypotheses is desirable.
- Knowledge of computer programing language SPARK is a plus.
