The **Lower School Counselor** works closely with the Principal, Assistant Principal, Head of Student Support, external providers and teachers, to support the learning and social and emotional needs of our community.

**Requirements**:

- Appropriate university-level qualifications and licensure in counseling
- Minimum of 2 years of lower school counseling experience
- Experience working with children with moderate to complex needs
- Fluent English speaker
- A comprehensive understanding of the developmental needs of children
- A strong understanding of the international context and related challenges
- Experience with admissions processes and helping families transition
- Experience with solution-focused brief counseling
- Experience with social, emotional learning and curricula
- Experience working with parents, including providing personal support (and referral), leading workshops on relevant topics, facilitating reading groups, and sharing relevant written material
- Experience teaching groups of students in classroom settings
- Willingness to be fully involved in school community life including coaching and chaperoning school events and field trips
