Job Summary:
Contractor Range Safety Advisor (CRSA) provides support to the US Navy Range Safety office by providing Technical expertise to the Range Safety Officer (RSO). The CRSA is also responsible for providing Operational continuity to the Range Safety program.

Principal Responsibilities of the Classification:
**Essential Responsibilities**:

- Provides daily office administration support to the RSO by preparing Pre-test Safety briefings, training plans, drafting scheduled and infrequent Naval messages.
- Make provisions for safe movements of vessels within AUTEC OPAREA. Maintain familiarity with all scheduled air, surface, submarine, and range craft operations within the AUTEC OPAREAs.
- Works closely with the RSO, Program Manager (PM, NUWC), Program Engineer (PE PAE) Range Users and other Customers as necessary.
- Attend and participate in range safety briefs, Pre-Test briefings and test planning meetings in order to provide assessments and recommendations as it pertains to Range Safety issues.
- Maintains files for message traffic and keeps the files up to date (including up to Secret).
- The CRSA stands rotational watches IAW the Range Safety Watch bill. This may involve 24 hours a day coverage.
- This could include 12 hour shifts. When on watch the CRSA monitors the surveillance radars via range vessels provide coordination of range support vessels and aircraft, and maintain the appropriate logs and displays to support these operations.
- This position may require support that entails working nights or days as the test schedule requires.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:
BS degree in Electrical, Electronic or Ocean Engineering or Physical Science. Military service in operational field may be substituted in place of degree. 10 years of AUTEC experience within range test operations as a Tracking Controller, Graphic Controller, Test Conductor or equivalent in a direct test support role. In lieu of a degree and 10 years of AUTEC experience, prior military service with an operational background in Submarine, Surface and/or Air warfare and combat systems is acceptable. Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance. Valid passport and Driver’s licensed required. Must have a working knowledge of communications systems, propagation of sound in water, data processing, performance characteristics of U.S. Navy ships and submarines, various aircraft and associated weapons systems, acoustic countermeasures and ASW targets. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software products. Must be calm and decisive under pressure. Able to operate independently as a part of a team comprised of contractor, Range User, Navy and Government personnel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
