Job Overview:
In the** Coffee Quality Technician** position, you will monitor coffee bean quality to ensure performance to standard and assist sensory evaluation activities. You will facilitate communication of quality standards and expectations to suppliers and report on supplier performance. Additionally, you will ensure quality standards and evaluation methodologies are aligned with Keurig Trading's customers. You will document and maintain sensory profiles and attributes associated with green coffee materials, and support coffee purchasing activities to optimize the allocation of green coffee. In this position, you will also support other sensory related functions such as recipe and new product development, ingredient quality assurance and sensory teams.

You will work with a team within our Lausanne, Switzerland facility, and report to the Keurig Trading Coffee Quality Manager.

The Coffee Quality Technician works independently and performs general administrative tasks to ensure continued improvement and efficiency within the team and lab. You will also support the Coffee Quality specialist and Coffee Quality Manager in the evaluation of existing products and the compliance of multi-site production, with established processes and protocols.
**What you will do**
- Responsible for the reception, registration and codification of samples into the existing tracking systems and databases
- Prepare and set up samples and rooms for sensory tasting events, including analytical, physical evaluation, dosing, grinding and brewing of green coffee.
- Perform basic physical evaluation of green coffee beans and participate in roasting activities.
- Build templates, matrix and sessions for cupping tests and execute panels in a timely manner.
- Participate in sensory activities including green coffee evaluation or tasting of other finished good products.
- Prepare and write procedures for internal laboratory activities.
- Follow up on findings/results with appropriate parties including internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and distribute Quality Inspection Certificates to suppliers.
- Follow all safety protocols and general housekeeping practices. Ensures the area and its equipment and supplies are kept clean and organized daily or after work has been completed.
- Assist the Coffee Quality Manager and Coffee Quality Specialist with preparation of activities,
information or reporting, when and where needed. Maintain laboratory statistics up to date.
- Participate in the preparation and organization of extra calibration and training exercises and/or onsite sessions.
- Calibrate and maintain lab equipment such as moisture analyzers, scales, brewers, thermometers, pH meter, etc. Get in contact with suppliers for technical support.
- Manage samples stocks and other laboratory consumables inventory.
- Maintain communication with other internal sensory sites for exchange of samples and follow-up of traceability information. Prepare samples for couriers.
- Maintain Coffee Corner equipment and roasted coffee supply.
Participate in other small projects related with continuous improvement and internal initiatives.

**Requirements**:
**What you must have**:
Swiss nationality or holder of a valid Swiss work permit.
Higher Education Diploma or similar.
Ideally 1-2 years’ experience as a lab technician in a quality control lab.
Ability to operate analytical lab equipment, such as sample roasters, moisture meters, brewers, grinders.
Proven organizational and communication skills.
Ability to multi-task, with attention to detail, manage time, and to work independently.
Ability to perform standardized work with repetitive tasks and motion.
Team oriented problem solver who takes ownership of their work.
Fluency in the English language required (written & spoken).

**Other preferred skills**:
Experience in the coffee sector, eg. barista or roaster or other similar position.
Certification in sensory methodology including SCA (Coffee Skills Program) and/or CQI (Cupping or Processing) or any other coffee educational programs.
Familiarity with Lean processes and structured problem-solving techniques.
Experience with implementation of GLP, QMS and laboratory certification processes.
SAP and or any other LIMS software knowledge is a plus.
Proficiency in French and/or Spanish language
