Our client, an innovative and dynamic bio-pharmaceutical company headquartered in Switzerland, covering multiple therapeutic areas, committed into delivering products on the market over the next 5 years, is looking for a for a contract based in Basel area for a:
**Team Lead Data Engineering** **(4941)**

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Advance the existing research platform and unveil the value of the data
- Drive data FAIRification: User awareness and coaching, data standardizing and meta-data extraction and technical solutions for storing and finding research data
- Create low-code/no-code solutions in top of our data resources and make the data accessible within research
- Take technical ownership of data sources, e.g., for raw data, compound management, (Bio-) sample management, and data analysis systems
- Oversee comprehensive requirements analysis and software vendor selection processes
- Lead commercial software customization, migration, and integration efforts
- Foster an efficient collaboration with the IT department, especially the infrastructure team
- Ensure an aligned culture of excellence in software design and coding standards
- Encourage the use of modern software development methodologies

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Master, PhD or equivalent experience in computer science, chemistry, biology, or physics, with a focus on supporting drug discovery scientists and processes
- 10+ years of experience in scientific computing in a pharma research environment
- Excellent overview about the drug discovery process in pharma / biotech
- Data-driven mindset, ability to understand different data domains, find technical solutions to manage data, drive Data FAIRification (findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability), and build solutions to extract knowledge from data
- Strategic mindset to enable the right decisions in a VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) environment
- Cheminformatics and/or bioinformatics experience
- Expertise in scientific software engineering and architecture
- Expertise in SQL
- Expertise in low-code/no-code solutions such as Oracle APEX, AWS Amplify, Spotfire
- Experience in micro-services and distributed systems, REST endpoints such as OpenAPI
- Expertise in Java and common frameworks is a plus
- Expertise in data structures, algorithms, and machine learning
- Expertise in cloud computing (AWS)
- Lean thinking capability to drive process simplicity throughout the organization by leveraging technology solutions
- Managerial and leadership skills as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills are a requirement to be successful in this key service-oriented position within the research organization
- Fluent in English; ability to communicate in German and French is an advantage
