Category Manager

**Job Purpose**
The Category Manager within the Global Procurement function of Straumann group manages a portfolio of selected categories. The Category Manager is responsible to put in place, lead and drive global virtual category teams to ensure the successful definition and execution of category strategies. In his/her role, the Category Manager is accountable for the overall category perfor-mance for the categories in scope, coaches, supports, and trains strategic sourcing specialists as well as relevant positions working in local procurement teams (matrix organization).

**Main Tasks and Responsibilities**
- Manage a portfolio of selected categories for the Straumann group by leading cross-functional and cross-regional virtual category teams. Portfolio of categories representing +75 Mio CHF/year, for this position are: Marketing & Education, HR, Consulting, R&D and Travel services.
- Develop Procurement category strategies that are aligned with the overall business strategy of the Straumann group: ensure the category team executes sourcing projects that are integrated, cross-functionally executed and aligned with Straumann stakeholders.
- Analyze category markets and provide recommendations that translate into actionable strategies and forward-looking analysis. Develop category expertise, maintain market intelligence and stays abreast of the changing supply base and new technologies.
- Lead efforts that drive cost optimization, improve quality, service and enhanced innovation through strategic sourcing, supplier relationship and risk management.
- Identify saving opportunities and manage a pipeline of sourcing projects and initiatives

**Profile**
- Preferred eduction: Master, MBA academic degree in Business, Economics, or Engineering
- Professional certification: CPSM or CIPS desired
- Langage: English (excellent written and spoken), Others - fluency in at least one additional language is advantageous (e.g. German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese)

Experience
- Minimum 5 years in senior procurement role (category management, strategic sourcing) with exposure to supply chain management (regionally or globally), complex strategic sourcing in a global matrix environment, optimal procurement processes and standards
- Proven performance in managing and developing a global or regional procurement category team, with requisite drive and energy to be successful in delivering a challenging transfor-mation agenda
- Specific category experience includes at least one of these: IT, Marketing & Advertising, Trav-el & events, Personnel services, Management and Functional Consulting, Legal Services

- Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and build relationships across multiple func-tions, countries, regions and cultures
- Demonstrated broad understanding of the content, processes and delivery channels in the field of the assigned categories. Expert negotiation skills
- Proven ability to identify problems quickly, make sound judgments, establish and implement solutions.
