- Climate change poses an existential threat to human development and ecological survival. A green transition is urgently required to meet this challenge. Trade and trade policy has a role to play in this transition. The Committee on Trade and Environment (CTE) and the Trade and Environment Structured Sustainability Discussions (TESSD) at the World Trade Organization (WTO) are open to the entire WTO membership. These mechanisms contribute to identifying and understanding the relationship between trade, environment that also contributes to sustainable development. THE PROJECT This project aims to increase engagement of developing countries in the CTE and TESSD on green transition issues. Working with seven countries, it will facilitate the preparation of trade strategies on the green transition and climate resilience and provide capacity building support to build the competitiveness of small businesses in the export of green goods and services. Seven countries have been selected to participate in this project. These are the Philippines and Viet Nam (Asia), Mauritius, Kenya and Senegal (Africa) and Ecuador and the Dominican Republic (Latin America and the Caribbean).
