The EBU is offering** Legal Intern (Part time 40% up to 100%) for a period of 6 months.**

**ABOUT THE EBU LEGAL & POLICY DEAPARTMENT**

The Legal and Policy Department's main function is to:

- analyse and negotiate common positions on new EU legislative proposals, in close liaison with Members and other EBU departments;
- provide Members with tailored legal advice on specific topics (e.g. EU law, international rules and standards, national legal issues);
- identify and minimize risk in relation to sports rights acquisition and other operational activities of the EBU;
- provide corporate and commercial legal advice to all EBU departments;
- act as guardian of corporate governance and compliance;
- provide a platform for exchange of knowledge and experience between Members;
- liaise with and lobby EU institutions to promote EBU legal positions and PSM;
- represent the EBU in public fora.

The Legal and Policy Department in Geneva comprises experts in media/communications law, competition law, contract law, corporate law, data protection and intellectual property law. These experts provide day-to-day advice in their areas of specialism and analyse policies and regulatory initiatives at international and in particular EU level. The Department anticipates possible legal or regulatory challenges arising from technology and market developments, and develops appropriate strategies, initiatives and proposals. In addition, the work involves negotiating common legal positions between members to be promoted by our team of lobbyist experts in Brussels to the EU and other international institutions.

To provide the highest quality legal advice for the organisation and Members in the most timely and efficient way in the respective area of expertise (intellectual property rights and copyright in particular), working in close co-operation with relevant legal and policy colleagues and other EBU Departments.

**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION**

**As the Lega Intern you will**:
Support the Legal and Policy Department on several legal files with a particular focus on EU copyright law and other related legal areas relevant to the media sector. A core focus will be to perform legal research and case law analysis to keep up to date the know-how of the Legal and Policy Department.
- Provides legal support to Members and other EBU departments.
- Monitors and analyses relevant case law, policy and market developments.
- Liaises with external advisers as appropriate.
- Contributes to EBU professional newsletters on specific topics.
- Works in other legal areas as necessary to provide assistance or support.

**YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Keen interest in media law related matters
- Practical and solutions-orientated
- Flexibility to work in parallel on a variety of complex issues
- Excellent academic record
- Team player and diplomatic approach
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills - English and/or French
- Be critical judgement to ensure confidential treatment of information when needed

**EDUCATION - **In the process of completing a Bachelor or a Master law**:

- an internship agreement** is required**
