Associate Director Mammalian Analytical Development

Key accountabilities and duties
- Leads a team of scientists and technical experts for analytical development within the Ibex Mammalian Development Services with full responsibility for all aspects of human resource management such as development, coaching and hiring.
- Responsible for resource and vacation planning of the assigned team members with regard to the fulfilment of all customer programs.
- Ensures a good information exchange from the upper management levels to his/her team and the other way around through regular team meetings and escalation of issues.
- Responsible for the organization, technical assessment and prioritization of the analytical development work to support development programs.
- Ensures that the groups deliver high quality development services to customers within the agreed timelines
- Responsible for developing cost efficient processes and running improvement programs to reduce cost and increase throughput through Operational Excellence and Innovation initiatives
- Responsible for preparing the budget of the group and preparing lump sum requests
- Fosters an innovation culture in his/her department and anticipates, evaluates and implements technical innovations and trends
- Ensures and manages the interfaces to Manufacturing, QC Operations and other Development Services groups.
- Implements the Lonza culture via openness for change and new ideas, cooperative teamwork and continuous improvement even outside the own area of responsibility
Qualifications and skills required
- Bachelor / Master degree, PhD preferred
- Preferred area of study: Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related disciplines
- Extensive experience in the area of biopharma analytics and / or analytical development preferable in the area of mammalian cell culture
- Expert in the area of large molecule analytical method development. Deep understanding of protein biochemistry, good understanding of business and financial processes
- Strong leadership skills; excellent communication skills in speaking, writing, and presenting often at higher levels (German & English); networking skills; ability to engage customers to develop positive relationships; strong team orientation
- Structured, focused and well-organized working attitude; open-minded for new ideas and suggestions; agile, highly motivated and dynamic drive; solution-oriented
