**About the role**

Come join Novartis Biomedical Research as a Discovery Fellow and help to investigate the immune-pathophysiology of glomerulonephritis. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join our group which is focused on translational investigation and biology discovery in the immune nephrology space with a focus on the role adaptive immune cells in glomerulonephritis.
You will be part of our Immunology and Biologics teams in Basel, CH, working alongside other postdoctoral fellows under mentoring of scientists experts in multiple disciplines and technologies such as cellular immunology, molecular biology, data science, and translational medicine.
Discovery Fellows have a unique opportunity to conduct innovative, interdisciplinary research and are expected to publish their results in leading journals. We collaborate across scientific and organizational boundaries, with a focus on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. You will join our postdoctoral community for dedicated events, including the monthly postdoctoral seminars and our annual Research Day Symposium. All Fellows participate to our robust curriculum designed to develop scientific and professional skills.
Key responsibilities
As a Discovery Fellow, you will:

- Work independently as well as with interdisciplinary teams
- Contribute and drive the ideation of the projects
- Drive and run experiments, data analysis, and define the next steps
- Establish and contribute to internal as well as external collaborations with academic partners
- Present and discuss the project update to internal boards, external conferences and with the internal and external partners

**Role Requirements**

Role Requirements:

- PhD in immunology, renal biology, or a related discipline (PhD students in the last year of their thesis work are eligible to apply).
- Knowledge of pathophysiology of autoimmune and inflammatory glomerular diseases, especially around the role of pathogenic autoantibodies in disease i.e. expert in B cell biology, immune complex mediated renal diseases, autoantibody mediated effector function and inflammatory pathways in renal diseases.
- Strong expertise in primary human immune cell culture, in vitro assays (flow cytometer, ELISA, ELISPOT, imaging), and molecular biology.
- Proficiency in single cell techniques, and organoid technologies is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Ability to work independently, and collaboratively in a matrix environment.
- Strong publication record or other scientific achievements (i.e. awards, patents, grants)
- Excellent analytical & data interpretation, communication, presentation and organizational skills
- Passion for fundamental exploratory research and boundless curiosity
