Policy Advisor and Coordinator

Scope: *
The Policy Advisor and Coordinator for the Economic Law and Policy (ELP) Program is responsible for providing strategic and communications support to the Senior Director of the ELP Program and its senior staff, as well as coordinating the program’s communications team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide strategic and communication support across different areas of economic policy-making.
- Support the development of clear and effective strategies and approaches to achieve the program’s mission and goals.
- Lead the development and implementation of an impactful influencing and communications strategy that will effectively support the achievement of the program’s goals and mission.
- Coordinate and support the development of annual strategic and communications plans across all workstreams of the ELP program.
- Serve a central coordinating role in programmatic activities for the Senior Director of ELP.
- Liaise with senior staff to ensure the advancement of ELP’s objectives and that they are being effectively actioned and communicated.
- Write and edit op-eds and other timely publications on key issues.
- Coordinate the outputs produced within ELP.
- Coordinate the work of a team of communications officers.

**Knowledge and Qualifications**:

- 5+ years of policy, journalism, or similar experience.
- Master’s degree in law, economics, finance, international relations, or another degree in a related discipline.
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of issues related to sustainable development, international relations, and economic policy.
- Evidence of strong writing skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience utilizing research findings to inform communications strategies and to support evidence-based advocacy; appreciation of how research can drive development outcomes.
- The flexibility and adaptability to work effectively across different topics and themes at the same time and to pick up knowledge on new topics quickly.
- The ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Fluency in English (additional languages are desirable).
- Strong presentation and networking skills.
- Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, asynchronous team.
- Ability to work on own initiative and under mínimal supervision.
- Strong commitment to the ideals, values, and mission of IISD.

**Salary**: Salary commensurate with experience and locations
