UX/UI Design Lead

At a Glance:
On is looking for a UX/UI Design Lead with exceptional design, communication and people management skills to lead our direct-to-consumer website. The UX/UI Design Lead is a player-coach, a person that sets the standard and empowers their team to meet it. The UX/UI Design Lead manages designers to ensure our products and features are valuable for people, easy to use, and of the highest level of craft and execution. This person is responsible for delegating responsibilities and managing the team of UX/UI Designers and Production Designers that are embedded with the Direct to Consumer (DTC) organization. The UX/UI Design Lead is expected to utilize their full range of people management skills, and UX, interaction and visual design skills.

Your Team:
Your Mission:

- Foster a design-led culture by evangelizing the value of design thinking, upholding our principles and not compromising on quality
- Responsible for overall team performance and health, resource allocation, project prioritization, and building a culture of design excellence
- Define, craft and evolve designs within our Design System and standards
- Take an empathetic approach to managing, with a focus on helping reports' growth and success
- Foster collaboration with product and project managers, UX researchers, and engineers within and outside the organization
- Challenge decisions, approaches and processes where we can do better
- Ensure the team structure sets each member up with a clear growth path that reflects both their personal goals and the needs of the business
- Proactively solicit and provide feedback from designers and broader teams in order to continually raise our bar for quality, while also acting as a mentor
- Build and manage a talented, diverse, inclusive team of designers that consistently delivers on projects and is well-balanced across a range of design skill sets
- Facilitate the delivery of high-quality work. Provide clear, effective feedback on UI-level workflow and interaction design via written feedback, critiques, and 1:1 sessions
- Focus solutions on what drives value for the business, make smart decisions about quality/effort tradeoffs, understand and track key metrics. Biased towards finding solutions and taking action
- Ability and willingness to jump in and do hands on work when needed

Your Story:

- 2+ years experience managing and mentoring teams
- 4+ years of design experience, encompassing interaction design and visual design with proficiency designing across platforms
- Experience working cross functionally with teams such as engineering, design and user research
- Experience leading design direction and strategic thinking with experience developing goals, identifying opportunities, and making decisions based on the impact to people and the company
- Experience representing work to a broader product team and other leaders - clearly and succinctly articulating the goals and concepts
