MISSION

Tasks and responsibilities

As a Solutions Architect for Data Analytics Platform, you will develop a data analytics platform and design the systems surrounding the platform. You will define the technology vision and design the digital experience for anyone wanting to curate, connect and exploit R&D data. You will create a solution around smaller-scale datasets of a highly complex nature characterized by a combination of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data from +300 systems with every dataset stemming from its own system. Your designed solution shall resemble a marketplace that displays the data and enables the distribution of the data to various end-users and stakeholders.

You will steer multiple squads across different countries with different cultures and in different time-zones to enable and champion the data-first approach within R&D.

You will share a collective responsibility with your peers in the CP R&D IT Design Guild to drive technology and data strategy to identify opportunities to better serve and delight our R&D scientists, engineers and ultimately growers. You will have an eye on the long-term perspective whilst always maximizing the flow of realized business value.

You will drive the digitization of R&D into business outcomes and ensure you stay on track with the focus on the right priorities. You will proactively engage across the IT organization and R&D with the teams that can contribute to setting the technology direction.

Technical Leadership

Lead the technical design of a data analytics platform and the associated systems for scientists in Crop Protection Development

Work with systems in AWS

Develop cloud infrastructure concepts and strategies to ensure use of cutting-edge technologies while right sizing services for high performance and cost-effective solutions. Drive infrastructure design delivery through Cloud team

Engage with R&D stakeholders and Business Analysts to understand needs and turn into technical solutions

Engage with suppliers to ensure delivery of maintainable technical solutions according to design

Ensure data on our platform is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR)

Ensure that Designs enable access management and secure use of data for internal, external, and public use

Develop strong partnerships with R&D scientists to have full transparency and joint ownership of the technology strategy and progress

Work closely with R&D Product Owners, R&D IT Platform Leads, R&D IT Domain Leads to ensure the technical solutions are matching the science needs and the technical roadmaps

Propose portfolio backlog items that will drive increased business value through technology changes

Play an active part in the CP R&D IT design Guild

STUDIES

**Profile**:
University Bachelor’s Degree in STEM, ideally with some biology/chemistry background

Science background, optimally with experience in scientific data collection

3+ years of designing data platforms and architectural patterns (data warehouse, lake, fabric, mesh)

2+ years of designing for cloud with knowledge of AWS

Experience integrating COTS solutions

Demonstrated work experience in designing complex bespoke business solutions

Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (ideally DataOps)

Demonstrated work experience in agile teams

Awareness of emerging data technologies, e.g., data quality, data catalogue, knowledge graphs, metadata, and ontology management platforms

Strong customer focus, communication, teamwork, and negotiation skills

Consensus builder across diverse interest groups

Ability to deliver in a cross-cultural environment

Self-motivated and proactive, ability to anticipate issues early

Ability to manage a high level of complexity and uncertainty

In depth technical experience, ideally AWS certified

Experience implementing data first solutions

Fluency in English, additional languages beneficial
