Engineering Standards Director

The Director, Engineering & Design is accountable for providing direction of global engineering and technology activities in alignment with business objectives. Provides overall leadership to global engineering group, setting operational strategies, establishing business focused goals and objectives, and continued talent development of the workforce to enable execution of global engineering and technology activities. Direct contribution to the development of business and/or functional strategies and responsible for managing multiple teams of professionals.

This role is responsible for developing the department strategy and long-term goals. Directs the activities of engineering leaders for various Engineering activities including project delivery, development of engineering standards and innovative project delivery methodologies. Anticipates and resolves problems such as changes in scope or resources constraints and ensures that critical milestones are met.

Key relationships include operating Company Engineering Leadership, EHSS, WW Security, Risk Management, Procurement Leadership, and Internal E&PS Leadership.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Translates business objectives into project goals and oversees the design phases of complex multidiscipline capital projects
- Participates in assessing complexity model and setting the project execution strategy for key projects
- Oversees assignments and directs the activities of departmental engineering leads
- Ensures the use of sound engineering and design practices to attain required quality control at maximum efficiency (cost and schedule)
- Balances project’s technical functionalities with the economic aspects of the capital investments
- Oversees development of engineering and design guidelines and standards tailored to project delivery and infrastructure systems common to all projects
- Ensures effective implementation of all company and regulatory policies and procedures
- Accountable for administration of engineering contracts
- Maintains strong client, industry and community relations
- Motivates others to achieve high quality outcomes
- Leads team to implement and manage innovation and change
- Drives business results ensuring the alignment to departmental budget
- Ensures that programs stay on plan by resolving resource conflicts and removing obstacles
- Establish plans for talent development, diversification, and professional development for group
- Ensures risk management analysis and plans are in place for all projects and technology implementation
- Ensures metrics for engineering performance are met and plans are in place to provide continuous improvement
- Ensures collaboration of engineering and technology team across other functional areas, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with global partners
- Provides global guidance on technology and engineering issues to all functional areas
- Develops yearly business plans and objectives that support the overall E&PS and Supply Chain goals

**Qualifications** Position Requirements**:

- 10+ years’ experience in an Engineering field
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
- Proficiency in establishing plans for talent development, diversification, and professional development for the group
- Global and enterprise-wide mentality coupled with strong communication skills (verbal & written), and the ability to articulate ideas to influence different levels of leadership ensuring align
