Purpose of the role:
The mission of the BIS is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation, and to act as a bank for central banks.

By joining the Banking IT team you will:

Principal accountabilities:

- As a Line Manager, lead the team within Banking IT by coordinating the team’s objectives and fostering a culture of agile working and continuous improvement and facilitating knowledge transfer. Motivate, train and develop team members.
- Assist the Head of Banking IT in the strategic planning of the section.
- Develop and run data engineering capability to deliver services to be business in line with Banking data management strategy.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications, taking into account the best industry practice and interact with the relevant design teams with regard to translating requirements into detailed system specifications including the selection and implementation of IT solutions.
- Lead projects to ensure that agreed deliverables, milestones, targets and budgets are observed in collaboration with the project owner and steering committee.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

- University degree or equivalent professional qualifications or experience.
- Sound knowledge of banking business activities and the ability to provide expert advice.
- Strong leadership skills and staff management skills with the ability to foster a culture of agile working and continuous improvement.
- Outstanding relationship management skills with a proactive customer and service orientation. Highly skilled in negotiation and diplomacy.
- Demonstrable ability to manage projects in a complex organisation and use project planning processes and techniques.
- Ability to bridge the gap between business requirements and IT solutions. Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both business and IT staff.
- Good communication, planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to encourage, develop and promote new ideas, and respond positively to change and act as an ambassador for change within the organisation.
- Excellent problem solving skills and a strong results orientation.
