We are seeking an accomplished Head of Chartering (Panamax Desk), a Senior Director role, at a pivotal moment for our organization. Following a recent strategic merger, our company has significantly strengthened its position as a leading force in Global Freight. Your Impact:
As Head of Chartering (Panamax Desk), you will hold significant ownership, directly accountable for a critical trading book's P&L. Responsibilities include:

- Proprietary trading with specific P&L targets and drive economic results, assessing and mitigating risks associated with chartering operations, such as credit risks, operational risks, and market fluctuations. Monitor/pursue spot arbitrage opportunities.
- Optimize physical operational trading (fleet).
- Providing leadership, guidance, and training to the chartering team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. This encompasses training, coaching, and performance management to achieve departmental objectives.
- Ensure close coordination with logistics and operations teams on voyage execution
- Coordinating with various departments to plan and manage the deployment of vessels, ensuring efficient utilization and maximizing revenue.
- Staying informed about market conditions, freight rates, vessel availability, and industry trends to identify profitable chartering opportunities and mitigate potential risks.
- Daily contact with brokers and freight team across the world.
- Managing and strengthening existing customer relationships while proactively identifying new business opportunities.
- Actively coordinate physical activities with Derivative desk.

What We're Looking For: A Leader with Strategic Acumen & Deep Expertise

We seek a seasoned industry leader with a proven track record and specific core competencies:

- Experience: Minimum 10 years in dry bulk trading, managing a book (preferably Panamax) and minimum 6 years of leading the desk.
- Strategic & Technical Expertise: Exceptional trading and decision-making skills, underpinned by strong technical acumen, deep market knowledge, and rigorous risk management capabilities.
- Strong Leadership: Proven ability to strategically lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, fostering growth and achieving collective goals.
- Entrepreneurial Drive: A proactive mindset, consistently seeking innovative solutions to optimize processes and new opportunities.
- Analytical & Resilient: Highly analytical perspective, strong computer literacy, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic environment.
