**ABOUT THE EBU DDG Office DEPARTMENT**
Within the DDG Office, we support the EBU organization and its Members in understanding market changes, and in strategizing and transforming accordingly.
The EBU Academy resides in the Deputy Director General Office and will be part of the EBU Strategy Services supporting Members with intelligence (MIS), transformation and training. There will be a close collaboration with these units and all experts within the EBU Permanent Services.
The EBU Academy is the dedicated training unit of the EBU. In line with the EBU’s corporate strategy and EBU Member requirements, it builds and commercializes distinctive training for staff at EBU members, institutions and media organisations. It specializes in fields of learning that enable media professionals to upskill, navigate their transformation and ensure that public service media is fit for the future.
**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION**
The EBU is recruiting a new Head of the EBU Academy to lead our distinctive and industry-recognized commercial training unit to a new phase of growth and development. You will be an expert in leading multi-cultural learning & development strategies and have the experience and skills to devise, market and coordinate effective and innovative training programmes. You will also manage recruitment and relationships with a network of skilled trainers who combine strong content knowledge and facilitation skills. You will have, or quickly develop, a deep understanding of strategies across EBU members and more broadly of trends across the media market to drive impactful and innovative training opportunities and ensure the continued financial sustainability of the EBU Academy. You will have strong skills in strategic thinking, resource management and performance analysis, as well as leading a team of professionals.
As a Head of the EBU Academy you will:
- Devise and implement a strategy for the EBU Academy that reflects the EBU’s vision for the future of public service media and evaluates initiatives to expand the unit’s outreach.
- Lead a team that builds a catalogue of on-line and in-person training opportunities for EBU members, institutions and media organizations.
- Coordinate with internal partners at the EBU to ensure development of training opportunities aligned with EBU corporate goals and Member requirements, with a particular focus on executive development, digital skills, advocacy, innovation and journalism safety.
- Promote and develop customized training opportunities in partnership with EBU Members and third-party customers.
- Oversee targeted marketing campaigns and impact measurement in order to ensure the sustainability of the EBU Academy and its relevance to EBU members and third-party customers.
- Recruit, contract and coordinate a first-class team of global trainers who are expert in facilitating both online and in-person courses.
- Produce the annual work plan and budget for the Academy, ensuring that efficient processes and procedures are in place and followed correctly.
- Produce quarterly reporting with key financial data and measurement of training outcomes to improve outcome of future training.
- Animate and expand a member network of heads training/ learning & development and drive coordination of the EBU Academy Committee.
- Develop brand awareness of the EBU Academy and its distinctive training proposition.
- Ensure the EBU Academy website is a clear and user-friendly tool for searchability, registration and payment of courses.
- Explore and evaluate opportunities for new sources of revenue from third-party users.
- Monitor industry trends on training/learning & development in order provide the most pertinent and competitive solutions for EBU members and other users.
**YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES**
- Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in creating and implementing successful training programmes, preferably within a membership setting or similar organisation.
- Strong people management skills with the ability to lead and develop remote based teams reporting directly, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
- Track record of project management abilities, including financial reporting.
- Significant expertise across online and in-person events.
- In-depth understanding of traditional and modern training methods (including workshops, simulations, e-learning, coaching).
- Familiarity with CRM systems (ideally with Microsoft Dynamics XRM) and data analysis.
- Highly organized and excellent at relationship management and communication.
- Excellent prioritization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects.
