**Job Description**:
**Job Purpose**:
The Manager, Trims Development & Sourcing primary job function will be to research relevant trends, introduce concepts and develop all seasonal trims based on seasonal product briefs, across all product categories, as well as proactively research new trims concepts applicable for future and tied in with long-range product plan.
This position will drive ownership of trim calendar deadlines, development standards, and pricing. This role will also lead supplier meetings, product set-up, troubleshooting, development status updates to internal cross-functional teams and related communication to external partners to ensure the success and timely development of trims.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Be the key consultant for trims related questions/issues/solutions at Canada Goose, for across all product categories.
- Collaborate with Design in inception phase to initiate research phase of trims and develop concepts.
- Identify suitable sources for new trim developments and guide suppliers to translate the design vision into trims which meet commercial needs of the brand.
- Partner with Design to Initiate and monitor all trim developments for the respective material focus area together with suppliers
- Responsible for price negotiations with suppliers during the development stage, in view of target.
- Lead all technical discussions related to the respective material focus area, steer the development process and support consolidation to improve business execution.
- Build and maintain a close relationship with cross-functional teams like Design, Product Engineering, Raw Materials Quality, Compliance and global sourcing
- Development performance requirements for all developments based on product requirements, end use, and historical standards.
- Ensure all developments are commercialized timely and successfully.
- Ensure that all adopted trim are tested in accordance with product requirements and with applicable calendar timelines
- Analyze and interpret development test results based on development specifications & take determine course of action
- Create, maintain and publish materials standard sheets for all new developments capturing all key information i.e., standards, test method and commercial information, pertaining to the item.
- Participate and lead supplier meetings on all aspects
- Collaborate with design, PDE and procurement to ensure on-time placement of sales sample requirements
- Lead timely product set-up in both PLM/ERP data bases and maintenance of correct data in PLM/ERP, to ensure accuracy of system, assisting in building of BOM’s and procurement driven business transaction.
- Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of internal and external supplier’s capabilities.
- Oversee the hand-off process for NEW developed trims, in collaboration with Design team, to raw materials quality team and supply chain to execute bulk.
- Record and review seasonal development performance summary on key performance metrics
- Provide latest information on newness by gathering input from relevant fairs, supplier meetings, material shows and competitor analysis
**Experience, Education and Designations**:
- Four year college or university degree in material engineering or comparable degree/education
- Minimum of 8 years’ work experience in trim development, preferably in outdoor apparel industry
**Knowledge, Skills and Attributes**:
- Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
- technically sound trim development background within the Apparel or Textile industry
- Good knowledge of outdoor industry with a great eye for trims concepts and design.
- Ability to anticipate problems, offers solutions, and address issues.
- Ability to work independently or with limited guidance
- Very Refined presentation skills.
- Effective communicator, verbal and written. Strong and confident presentation skills.
- Excellent organization skills, with the ability to prioritize workloads, meet critical deadlines and manage multiple projects at the same time
- Fluent English (verbal and written)
