**Company Overview**

Gero Life Science (GLS) is a small, non-profit research organisation investigating improved methods of disease detection and health declines, with the aim of limiting the incidence of age-related diseases and lengthening the healthy period of our lives’. We are currently in the early start-up phase which is why we are now looking to further expand our collaborative, agile and passionate team.

**Job Overview**

We are looking for a bioinformatician/data scientist to analyse data sets for clinical and research purposes. You will be responsible for mining publicly accessible datasets, formatting and maintaining databases; performing statistical analyses to test hypotheses; and presentation of scientific results.

You will also participate in stimulating scientific discussions of the latest literature within the field, providing creative inputs and ideas to the team and training in relevant fields.

This is a part-time (50-60%), permanent and fully remote position; reporting to the internal science team.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Conducting human medical data formatting, mining, processing, and statistical analysis
- Conducting proteomic data formatting, mining, processing, and statistical analysis
- Conducting hypothesis testing and graphical representation of data
- Developing computer programs to automate data analysis tasks, such as data mining, processing, or statistical modelling
- Creating algorithms to process data and extract useful information from large sets of data
- Identifying new approaches to analysing data that can improve efficiency and accuracy
- Analysing large sets of data to identify patterns or trends

**Requirements (m**ust haves)**
- Master’s or higher degree in a science related field, such as biology, bioinformatics computational biology, or a related field
- Programming language skills in Python or R
- Strong statistical analysis skills
- Experience formatting and handling large datasets
- Knowledge of human physiology and disease
- Knowledge of human clinical biomarkers is a plus
- Experience working with human clinical data or human proteomics data is a plus
- Experience data mining (specially human medical data or human proteomics data) is advantageous
- Analytical thinking
- Proven problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in English
- Adaptable to change
- Passion for learning
